Now let me get y'all's opinion on something. Very recently (and I don't know how IN THE WORLD they got this guy) one of Gus's disciples, Josh Floyd, became the head coach of my alma mater, Hewitt Trussville. However, he exited out of Shiloh after winning a lot of high school titles in Arkansas. From what I've seen this year, Hewitt is doing way better than expected and gave Hoover all they could handle for 3.5 quarters. A game that, last year, would've been about 45-0. tl:dr He's a damn strong coach.

Anyway, he runs virtually the same type of offense Gus does and has been successful everywhere he has been. Do you Aubies in the know believe he might end up on the staff after a few years of maybe guiding Hewitt to huge success? I have to believe if he became the OC at Auburn, he'd already know the tendencies and playbook of Gus right off the bat.

When Gus bolts for the NFL, Lashlee will slide into his spot & Josh Floyd will slide into Rhett's spot.

I don't think any Auburn fan could answer this question without guessing. Gus has hired some high school coaches at Auburn but they have worked in off the field roles. He has never hired a high school guy to coach on the field

My expectation is that those guys will start getting position coaching roles when guys like Lashlee and Craig get promotions with other schools

Yes, he will eventually be hired at Auburn.

After a few years, Josh Floyd - if successful - will become a household name across the state. Kids will know that when they play Hewitt, offensive thunderbolts will occur. That helps with recruiting.

This is very common. It's how Gus was hired at Arkansas. It's why Rush Probst was interviewed at Alabama when Saban arrived.

To answer your question, yes. I am assuming he will be on staff when Rhett leaves.

ETA:

And probably the next Hoover coach.
