I don't think Petrino would be a bad hire at all from a coaching standpoint, but I wonder if he has the cache and credibility to really just come in, take over, and tell the meddlers - "you're done." He is a bit of a wounded figure.

There aren't many "meddlers". Jay Jacobs is the only one I believe ever might insert himself. Chizik ran the show his way. Tim Jackson was part of the Chizik way of running things.

This already happened. The "old gaurd" doesn't have any clout anymore. And I am referring to the ones who actually made AU so successful for several decades, namely: Lowder, Housel, and Dye. None of those have any influence or say so anymore (I know, shocker, but Dye isn't running shite).

This has been the Jay Jacobs show since jetgate. That signalled the changing of the old gaurd. Housel was out, university president out and Gogue in soon after, Lowder was marginalized then pushed out completely, Dye was never pulling the strings to begin with.

That's just not true, and it won't be as long as Earlon and Yella Fella are around.

Jacobs took over and has run the show his way since with consent from the university president to do so. The board of trustees is on the sidelines now and the "old guard" will have no say so in who the new coach is, just like they didn't with Chiz.

Earlon McWhorter/Jimmy Raine ----> Enough said

Exactly. As long as they are around, that gives Dye and Lowder all the access they need.

Lowder didn't stuff the BoT with his cronies for nothing.

I am not buying it. You think they were the ones that brought in Chiz or influenced his hiring? I don't think so.

I do not think they were telling Chiz how to run his team or what assistants to hire either.

And I do not think they will be picking the new coach. It is Jacobs and his "committee".

Just exactly what are they doing?

No, they were the ones that had Muschamp ready to sign on the dotted line.

Because he wasn't "their guy"

It's Jacobs' final decision, and his marching orders will be relayed from Earlon.

McWhorter is the reason both Jacobs and Gogue have the jobs that they have.

Tim Jackson also was Cam Newtons personal baby sitter when and during the investigations of 2010 and all the predatory media activity.

I went to the NC celebration at JHS in January 2010 and on the stage, Chizik personally thanked Jackson for his efforts in this area. I had never heard of the guy prior to that.

Yella fella also wanted Houston Nutt at one point. Raines needs to keep his fat arse selling wood.

Welp, tells me they are not calling the shots anymore and don't have the clout. Unlike Lowder. Which is what I was saying.

Again, tells me they are not calling the shots anymore. Lowder was a shot caller. Along with Housel.

Again, Jacobs is the one that is going to be spearheading and making the decisions here this time as well. Not the "good ole boys".

Just because you don't "buy it" doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And, the AU BOT will have final say in the hiring of any AU employee making a multi-million dollar salary.

Who exactly is Earlon McWhorter? I had not heard of this guy til he his head started sticking up above the fox hole this season. he is apparently the heir apparent to Bobby Lowder as a power broker at Auburn? If thats the case then frick this guy.

And that would be because Lowder wants Petrino.

Two things:

1. Lowder knows best

2. In Lowder I still trust

Bring in Petrino.

Basically. He was on the jet 9 years ago.

He's a nobody that somehow became public enemy #3. I have no idea why Auburn fans dislike him so much. He's irrelevant to anything that matters in the football program.

Jacobs will do what McWhorter tells him to do. The last time he went out of line, we ended up with 5-19.

I won't disagree with this

He was basically the co-head coach.

Lot of Colonial shareholders may disagree with you.

I hope not. Too soon after Cam Newton. All the NCAA said basically was 'not guilty', not 'innocent'. With Petrio it would look like Auburn football has no integrity as long as you win.
