Chickens are in NWA not Central Ark.

The Ozark and Ouachita mountains are the best parts of Ark. There are plenty of scenic parts of Central Ark. as well, It is basically the foothills on the western edge of Little Rock and the delta begins on the eastern edge.

Well it has been about 10 years since I have been to Fayettville. Had a great time in Fayettville, but recall smelling chicken shite for about 2 hours straight on the drive across the state.

Exactly. I've been all over Arkansas and it never smelled that bad except this place I used to play baseball in springdale. It was worse where I grew up in East Texas. You could smell chicken houses all over the county during July/August. HORRIBLE.

I have had the pleasure of smelling some chicken houses before and its pretty nasty, you had to be behind some trucks in the interstate to smell it for longer than 2 or 3 minutes.

Anyway, if any of you Auburn folks are making the trip you are welcome to come by my tailgate and have some grub and drink a cold one. We are smoking 2 pork butts and a full brisket, should have some wings and boudin as well. You can recognize the the tailgate by a banner than will read "SRI supports the Razorbacks" come by and ask for Greg (me) or Mike (my brother). I will be by the smokers probably.

Of course if any of my Arkansas brethren are there come on over.

Damn. Wish I was coming. I think Fayetteville is a great college town. Have fun.

Agree. College games should be played on college campuses. Arkansas is a beautiful state and Fayetteville is in perhaps the best part of the state. Little Rock sucks arse.

I guarantee you that if LSU played Arkansas in Fayetteville, the town would be overrun by at least twice as many who may travel to Little Rock.

chicken shite

There's a time of year, maybe early fall, when some farmers get their fields fertilized using shavings from chicken houses. There's maybe a week when you can smell something like that.

I don't know if they even do that anymore around Fayetteville as a lot of the farms are gone, but I do remember that smell back in the day. Its not an all the time thing. Just a week or so a couple of times per year.

Springdale often smells like chicken feed, which is actually just grain/corn sitting in their silos. Its not shite.

Pine Bluff and Crossett smell like paper mills. Morrilton, too IIRC. I hardly every go down that way anymore, except for the occasional duck hunting trip.

Good pic. West Little Rock with the river and Pinnacle Mountain is as pretty as any part of the south.

South Georgia smells horrible during the Spring and Fall when farmers start fertilizing with chicken shite. I don't ever remember dealing with this horrible smell when I lived in the Mississippi Delta.

Maybe that is what it was. I just remember asking our friends when we got to Springdale what we smelled on the interstate and they referenced chicken houses. I didn't smell it in Springdale or Fayetteville. I believe it was some time during the summer when we went.
