I know Bama fans pile on him all the time. That's not the purpose of this thread. I was just wondering what you guys' honest opinion is of him.

He's been Auburn's best recruiter, IMO. He's lights out every year on the recruiting trail. But he's also been a the forefront of the "Auburn cheats!" assault from other fanbases. Rueben Foster, Jovon Robinson, and JaQuay Williams (unrelated I assume?) were all recruited by Taylor. He was also the lead recruiter of Cyrus Kouandjio. I'm sure I'm forgetting others.

Any of you guys want to offer up your opinion?

I've got no problem with him, and anyone from within the program will tell you he genuinely cares for his players and is an overall good guy.

As a WR coach, he's done a fantastic job these last three years.

Auburn fans love him.

The rest of the SEC wouldn't mind seeing his arse busted and blamed for NCAA violations that would render the barn into ashes. And only then would they have our permission to die.

Doesn't bother me a bit. Same people accusing him of cheating are the same ones who have been accusing the Team Chaplain of cheating for over a decade. Sometimes you can't fix stupid.

I think he's an amazing recruiter and damn good WR coach

He gets a bad wrap for being the dirtiest recruiter in the history of football, but from people I've asked to that know trooper, he always sounds like a super nice dude and a coach who really does care about his players

Just what I've hard about the dude from people who have met him/ know him

Well in fairness there will always be fans saying that and without opening a race debate it's pretty easy to see why he was picked.

Backwards hat, boisterous, littel rough around the edges; he doesn't fit the image of what a lot fo fans would want 'representing their school'

I think Trooper Taylor is a pretty cool guy. Eh wears his hat backwards and doesn't afraid of anything.

Eh. Grantham is in the same mold (but in his own way). Curses out players on the sidelines, gives UF kickers the choke sign, chews out James Franklin post-game.

Troopah is hated by the UGA fanbase, at least, because of his seeming to high five Nick Fairley after all hell began to brake loose in 2010

Can you imagine what would be said if he was captured on tape taunting coaches on the other sideline?

Uh. I think you got this backward.

Parkjas, my offer to grab lunch when you are in Bham stands. We can talk to the guy I was telling you about that used to coach in the SEC. He's an AU man to the core. He'll let you know the truth on Troop's rep among other college coaches.
