Don't get me wrong. Auburn has some great fans. You can't live in this state, cohabitate with, work with, go to school with and otherwise encounter fans every day without really getting to know and appreciate some of them.
And you can be standing there having a perfectly civil conversation conversation with one of them...

I could be wrong, piggy, but I've found that if you weren't at all insecure, you wouldn't make comments like, "I'm just glad we didn't have to run away from the flagship school in our state." Truly confident people/fans don't go out of their way to troll, toss out lame stereotypes, etc. Just a hunch, but I'd bet that deep down (they'd never admit it), those fans who do insult others harbor a fear that if you/your team has it, I/my team doesn't (so I have to try to take down you/your team w lame comments like, "Your school ran away").
