From a recent article on Auburn recruit Anthony Swain:

quote:

"My highlight was Saturday night, going in the locker room and walking on the field," Swain said. "We stood in a circle around the 'AU' at the middle of the field. I just felt like this is where I need to be."

Then, Swain said, Auburn receivers coach Trooper Taylor led the recruits in a prayer, a moment Swain will never forget.

"It was, how should I say, a great spiritual experience," said Swain. "It was crazy. I felt blessed to be there."

Yeah, that's sickening. What kind of person would lead a prayer?

Coaches and players pray in the Locker room and on the field all the time.

What's the big deal?

I think it's the hypocrisy of it all, but I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure that's where Superman was going. It was the 1st thing I thought when i read the OP.

I think he is implying that Trooper Taylor is using christianity as a recruiting tool, and that it is contradictive with the boastful, arrogant, and sometimes downright dirty nature that AU has embraced since Chiz and Co. have arrived. I see nothing wrong with it if it works I reckon.
