Your argument is tired, but considering who you are as fans, it's not too surprising.

Sweet melt dude.
21-0
I'd say they deserved to be there. :)

Also, why do the Saints get a mulligan this weekend?
Its called a playoff moron. You wont ever see the seahawks have to play New Orleans again for the championship game, New Orleans has to win its conference in order to play for a championship.
In other words New Orleans has to PROVE its the best team in their conference.

Only ignorant frickers legitimize the 2011 Bama National Championship. Any blithering idiot can see that (A) they never should have been in the game and (B) that splitting the season series with a football team =/= winning the title.
I take it about as seriously as UF 1996 and FSU 1993. On a lesser note, I laugh at it about as much as LSU 2007, AU 2010, and USC's 2003 AP claim.
What many people don't realize is that this game was the single biggest turning point in Saban's tenure at Bama. Prior to this game he had 1 MNC, 1 SEC Championship, and 2 SECW championships. He was basically Mark Richt except had already lost 6 games in a year and that pesky national championship.
Richt 2001: 8-4
Saban 2007: 7-6
Richt 2002: 13-1
Saban 2008: 12-2
Richt 2003: 11-3
Saban 2009: 14-0
Richt 2004: 10-2
Saban 2010: 10-3
Richt 2005 Pre-Bowl: 10-2
Saban 2011 Pre-Bowl: 11-1
52-12 v. 54-12...the difference being Richt facing 2 less cupcake opponents b/c of shorter regular seasons in 2001 and 2004. Oh, and that Richt won the conference twice and 3 Easts, while Saban won 2 Wests and 1 SECCG.
But, as the media does, it fell in love with Bama and LSU early in 2011. Hyped the shite out of the first game unnecessarily and it was ingrained in skulls across the nation that it would be a disservice to not have Bama in BCSNCG. They go on to win, then repeat, then finish 11-2. If they lose that title game in '11 or if they never even made it to that title game, then who knows how the program turns out. The outlook certainly wouldn't have been nearly as rosy as it turned out.
It was a giant crock of shite that was a reflection of the larger problem with determining a college football champion. Start your own poll and claim an LSU national championship for that year. It would be just as legitimate. I'll claim one for 2007 while we're at it. It's the Bama way.

One of those is not like the other.

And that "Pesky National Championship."
I think if you took away NCs, mythical or not, Richt's resume would compare favorably with anyone's in the nation.
Overhyped media narrative or not, Alabama had the opportunity to play LSU in that game and made a statement out of it. It's not like LSU came up five yards short or anything.

I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty sweet. Whenever I start to feel bad about how this year ended for Alabama, I just check out the SECr and some LSU fan is some runny mess over 1/9/12.
I feel bad for the fact that it these few guys embarrass the majority of their fanbase. I know that feel. Doesn't stop me from enjoying the melt.

Dude thats pro ball. Division teams play each other twice a year and plus they have always had the playoffs
So what you are saying is that the saints get a mulligan because thats just how the system works in that league.......
Funny, the system working the way it should is ok when YOUR team gets the mulligan, yet when the system works the way it should and it does NOT favor your team then you cry like a little bitch.
Just another day with LSU fans on the SECr

So what comes after beating a dead horse? This has to be at least three stages beyond that at this point.

Apparently you just go get a new stick and start over.

So does this mean Tennessee is the true conference champions of 2003? After all, they beat you guys in the regular season and they SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PLAY LSU TWICE!!!!!11
LSU didn't lose to Tennessee in 2003.
I think you mean 2001.
Another mulligan for Saban, amirite?

Ho-lee shite, the melt is not limited to just LSU fans I see.
Someone asked a few pages back if people here get tired of discussing the same thing over and over, and I think there might be something to that. I'm going to go out on a limb and venture a guess that this isn't the first-and may well not be the last-time you have shared that little lecture. Well, thank you for setting all that shite straight and exposing the Grand Ignorance of Alabama. Hard-hitting stuff right there.
So '11 was a crock of shite...would it make you happier if the football world just declared '11 to be a championless season? Null and void, if you will? Does the sight of '11 Nat'l Champs Bama memorabilia irk you that bad? Hot damn, I'd hate to see how upset you get over things that actually matter in the grand scheme of things.

Probably need a new horse, too. At what point do people just move on?
Should I go troll OU fans and cry about them not deserving to be there? I haven't paid the embarrassment in the 'Dome much mind these past few days, but maybe I'm just doing all this wrong.

Lol you're like an elementary school child with that response. There was no "melt" in my post. Just posting the records. I have long been over the loss. I dumped that shite out of my system on 1/10/12 with the rest of the whiskey I drank at Mick's Irish pub in mid city after the game. It was a tough morning.
