Do you think a healthy # of Georgia fans would trade their 2005-2014 athletics performances for Auburn's same tenure?
that is a very interesting question. I would say that most would make the trade.
However, that doesn't mean Jacobs has "demanded excellence" the whole time. Unless you are saying Auburn's excellence is simply determined by their performance relative to UGA in football...

Yes, surely. Because as fans all 99% of people care about is football, and winning a football national title.
But that's not all an AD cares about, at least any even halfway competent one. He is the director of athletics...every sport is under his purview and in this time frame UGA has done better at almost every sport offered by both schools. And really, the only reason AU even gets the nod in football is because of that natty, which obviously, is a big deal.

Oh, so his expectations were the reason he hired Chizik and Barbee and has basically run an otherwis worthless athletic program save for the typical swimming stuff and the 2010 and 2013 National Title appearances?
I mean, other than that natty, the natty appearance, and hiring a handful of high profile coaches, sure. I don't like Jay much, but this isn't a great argument.

IMO, both Jay Jacobs and Greg McGarity fall somewhere between mediocre and bad on the Power 5 AD scale. Arguing which one is worse seems somewhat unfulfilling for both fan bases.

I won't disagree, but it's worth noting ADGM has only been here half the time JJ has.

Good thing he doesn't demand bowl wins.
Still pissed off about last year's Auburn bowl loss. You had a chance at giving the whole country free bloomin' onions at Outback and you choke! The one time I root for Auburn in a bowl game and they lose.

UGA has far more wins

and a much higher win percentage over that time span.

simply due to having a natty.

And hell even in recent years our swimming teams have come on strong.
Auburn also has a national championship in women's track in field (2006). UGA has zero.
Maybe if you weren't such a homer you'd look at actual numbers instead of just blindly believing UGA is better at everything.

That's a mighty fine spin job for why the stadium project is being delayed/cancelled imho

Damn dude. You could have saved that hour of your life if you had just asked him to amend his statement to "UGA is better at most things".

We all laugh at your mediocre football and baseball seasons and absolutely pathetic basketball season.

we've made the NCAAT every year that jacobs has been here, including 6 sweet 16s and an elite 8. Auburn has been twice with no success.

we were also an extremely good team in 2004 and 2006. All 3 of those squads are better than any AU has put out in the time frame.

AU has 1 WCWS appearnace in the time, UGA has 2.

Why not include men tracks and field? I do see that UGA has more outdoor track and field titles than AU in the time, who has zero.

AU has 0 SEC titles compared to 1 for UGA. Plus you claiming hunt seat titles is like USC claiming the AP title in 03. Overall is what counts, of which we have more.
I like you took the time to point out all that. And even after having done so, you reinforced my point that UGA has had the better program overall. The only and I mean ONLY thing even keeping auburn hanging around the discussion is the one in football, since that is the most important.
UGA has won 15 national titles since 2005. Auburn has won 11. 15 > 11
