I love how USA today is blaming Auburn for a poll and the NCAA listing them as champion. Auburn didn't play in or win the NC in 1993 but it isn't their fault what the NCAA or the poll said about them.

@BarrettSallee: Auburn official tells me AU formally recognizes two national titles (1957, 2010). The others are documented/open for formal consideration.

If they were ineligible, they can't win a NC. They were the best team that year, but going back and changing things is tedious. It makes it seem like Auburn is desperate. They are a good program coming off a great year. The uproar this is going to cause is not worth it. Auburn should just move on.

Wrong. Nebraska, Notre Dame and Florida State would have beaten Auburn that year by at least a touchdown.

Thats just it, Auburn isn't claiming them. The NCAA and the "National Championship Foundation" is. Auburn didn't come out and push the NCAA to let them claim the titles or to put them #1 but people are trying to blame Auburn for what the poll and NCAA did.

No where in that statement does Auburn "claim" a title. They only made you aware of the NCAA's recognition of a title awarded to Auburn by another organization

Some of the fans on this thread make everyone think otherwise. Like you, if LSU were in this situation, I would not want them to claim the NCs either. I'm not blaming Auburn for anything. It just seemed like some of the fans are celebrating this when they shouldn't. IMO.

The AP still selected Auburn in 57 and Oklahoma in 74.

I posted this in the other thread. This is what everyone could technically claim based on the records book:

I am sure it has been posted already, but the ncca does not recognize ANY football national championships, so auburn is pretty much pulling that out of their arse
