I would believe you. One time on a ski lift I was trying to have a simple conversation with a similarly aged guy next to me. Completely out of context he says something along the lines of 'blah blah blah that's why they say Kansasians are amazing and can do anything'. Arrogant as frick for no reason

I apologize that you had to meet one.
In all seriousness, my best explanation is that I think they have an overcompensation tendency because 1/3 of their state's population comes from suburbs of their most hated rival state's city and they know that their state is completely irrelevant and worthless on a national scale. I'm not saying Missouri is a gem, but it's a hell of a lot better than kansas in almost every measure. They own us in college basketball, but we own them in the real world.....I'd be insecure too if I were them.
