AU fans: Is Roof running Chizik's D scheme or his own D scheme?

Talked to a coworker who is an AU fan and he said that Roof isn't running the system that he wants to run and is instead running Chizik's scheme. He was basically defending Roof by saying that he was having to run a D scheme that he doesn't want to run.

Is this correct? Makes sense that a HC would tell a DC to run his system, but not familiar enough with Chizik's or Roof's past D schemes to know if there is that big of a difference.

Roof hasn't had a defense worth a shite in 10 years.

I don't pretend to know, but Chizik needs to get us back to pre-2009 some way and somehow.

The only things that seems clear is that they aren't on the same page and whatever they are doing isn't working.

These three* years have been the worst Auburn defenses I have ever seen and they are getting progressively worse.

119 to 80 in total D, they literally couldn't have gotten any worse.

He basically made a bad defense into an average one, which is looking like a fluke regardless...

Its hard to say, but after their little altercation during the FAU game, it is clear they aren't seeing eye to eye. I think the problem is that they are trying to run a mix of the two, and it isn't mixing at all.

If your co-worker isn't sitting in on the practices and meetings with the coaches, he is as clueless as the rest of us and in reality doesn't know his arse from a hole in the ground...the same as those saying it's all Roof's fault. Myself included.

when you consider the talent it's a nice job.

I guess. To be fair though Minnesota and Duke are not exactly prime schools for Defensive talent.

It looks to me like 2 different philosophies that don't mesh. The secondary as a whole is not aggressive to the football. Tackling is horrible no matter who's scheme we are running. As a whole the defense doesn't have a mean/nasty attitude about it.

Not in the least. I wish we had people bitching about us like they did last year with Fairley.

not at all. I don't care about Roof at all. I just think it might be a bit unfair to put all the blame on him. I think, like others, that he is trying to run Chizik's D and just doesn't know how.
