Editors at Athlon's cannot catch 57 wins and 55 losses predicted in regular season SEC play. Pick whatever you want, but have the integrity to balance out the wins and losses.
It is sad that we need to check things like that when it comes from a notable resource.

What a monumentally dumb approach. Who are you going to hire that is better than Miles?
If you don't think that LSU can get a better coach than Les Miles, you're the dumb one. Miles as a coach is marginal at best. He recruits well and runs a clean program; those are his strengths. As a game day coach, he leaves a lot to be desired. He's been in BR for 11 seasons. That's a long time in the college coaching world. His relationship with the TAF has apparently become strained, and his goofy demeanor, which Tiger fans used to love, has become stale. A potted plant could coach the Tigers to an 8 or 9 win season. The talent is there, The missing piece has been coaching. Miles' inability to either evaluate the talent of, or develop even a serviceable QB over the past several seasons is inexcusable. It won't surprise me if LSU loses 2 or more games this season, simply because of who the head coach is.

Hypothetically, which coaches would you go after that are a realistic option?

I think the East will consume itself. Too many question marks across the board over there. A lot of folks are picking Tennessee to win the East, but a deeper look at their last year's record shows that they feasted on a lot of teams with losing records. Florida would be my favorite in that division, but it's hard to say if last year's results were lightning in a bottle type stuff, or if McElwain is the next great thing. Otherwise that division is a clusterfrick.
In the West, I find it hard to place Ole Miss above Arkansas. Considering the problems they are having at the moment, and the loss of three first round draft picks, they are due to take a step back. A big one at that. Ole Miss, in my opinion will finish just ahead of Mississippi State, who will finish ahead of both A&M and Auburn. LSU and Arkansas should be in a pretty heated battle for second in the West behind Alabama.

How on Earth is that unreasonable? I'm pretty sure that if you just replaced LSU and Ole Miss last season that's pretty much how it shook out.
Ole Miss is a train wreck at the moment, and LSU may not even make it to the Arkansas game before the powers that be in Baton Rouge decide they are going to go ahead and pull the trigger on Miles like they tried to last season. They open with Wisconsin. Then they get a breather with Jacksonville State. Then comes a stretch of SEC opponents. Mississippi State, Auburn, Missouri, Florida.
You gotta imagine that LSU stands to lose two of those (including the opening week against Wisconsin). THEN they get Ole Miss. THEN they get Alabama. THEN they get Arkansas.
LSU is going to fire Les Miles next season. It just depends on WHEN the wheels fall off. Not if.

If there was someone then lsu would have pulled the trigger last year.

I think it is funny that everyone doesn't see arky taking a step back next year.

First of all I never said it was unreasonable. You don't mention any of the legit question marks we have as a team. We could turn out to be a very solid squad but players are going to have to step up in their first year starting, mainly the offense. It is no sure thing by any means. I think 3rd in the west is the ceiling next year unless something unforeseen happens.

I don't think that is a fair assessment. I have seen many that believe Arkansas is a 6 or worst win team next year.

I believe that as well but I want his perspective

It's possible. But not as much as Ole Miss. And it may not happen at all. The progress that the offense made under a single season of Dan Enos is pretty remarkable. Arkansas lost some key pieces on offense to be sure, but they do have decent depth across the board, and that depth has now been in that system for two years.
It remains to be seen. But one thing I know for a fact is that the defense is going to be VERY good. As in, it's gonna be hard for your team to score a single point, good.

Some of us have considered the possibility

When you say, "I want some of what you are having", you are IMPLYING that I am being unreasonable. You are insinuating that I am high or drunk.
I don't want to argue semantics, but come on now. Don't be a dick.

You see to be totally overacting to a little comment. I don't believe what you are saying is going to happen as I stated but that doesn't mean I believe you are some crazy person that has insane ideas. "I want some of what you are having" was actually just a remark to how I hope what you are saying happens. Stop trying to read too much anything things.

I'm not sure how what I said correlates to me being a dick.

Defense gets better, offense gets worse, should be about the same

Looks about right. I see Aggot having a rougher year once opposing LBers figure out that Trevor's a hot read only QB and all they have to do is drop back in coverage, squat, and watch his eyes, just like BIG XII backers did. Pick 6 city!

Your fantasy world is shrinking by the day. Congrats on another season built on prayers and penny loafers.

For 11 years I've been hearing this shite. They come up with new names every year. Briles was a hot name, can't touch that now. I reckon if UGA has a decent season, smart will be the new one.
