It won't hurt LSU much to lose ol' lead foot

Kodi Burns 2.0 could hurt though

I do think Mizzou gets a slight edge, just because of their total package. But a game between the two could go either way.

I probably haven't seen enough Auburn games to make an assessment but based on what I have seen I'd say Mizzou's strength is their balance. It's not the D that carries the day. It's not their O that carries the day. It's not the running game that carries the day. It's not their passing game that carries the day. I think there are individual units on Auburns team that may be better than Mizzou's version but if I had to hold out hope for Mizzou, it's all units are clicking fairly well.

Our defense does not look as dominant as Mizzou to me but we have potential. I am really hoping we corrected our mistakes against Ga pertaining to our 4th Q implosion on that side of the ball. If we don't take care of Bama, there is no doubt Mizzou can beat them with their long WRs.

As an observer, you have to be impressed by what Malzahn has done with basically the same team as Auburn had a year ago. He should be coach of the year in the SEC.

On the other hand, I agree with you. Auburn deserves a top-5 ranking based solely on results, but I don't think anyone - reasonable AU fans included - actually believes Auburn is one of the five best teams in the country. Meanwhile, if you took the Mizzou label off Pinkel's squad, I think most would say they are one of the five best teams.

Yet head-to-head, I would favor Auburn because of that gimmick offense.

Last time Mizzou faced a similar offense, Navy wiped the floor with us in the 2009 Texas Bowl.

That said, this is a different team - stout against the run and relatively disciplined. So if they could hold to their assignments and force Auburn's QB to beat them through the air, Missouri could win.

You're in for quite a surprise, Aubie! LSU will gain quite a class for next season, not to mention the coming-of-age players that are better in talent than Aubie ...

LSU must be the only program who does this. How unique you all are.

Missouri won't be a pushover. Let's not forget that they lost at home to South Carolina and struggled at Ole Miss. They were fortunate to face Georgia after all the injuries.

Weird....

We must not have seen the same thing. I never saw them "struggle" with Ole Miss

What other teams in the country run that offense?

It's a gimmick because it's out of the ordinary. Teams aren't used to defending it.

The run and shoot was a gimmick. Now half the country runs it.

Just because it's a gimmick doesn't mean it's not effective or can't succeed.

But typically once teams do figure out how to defend the gimmick, the success of it drops dramatically.

As a Mizzou fan I still think Auburn is a bit better than Mizzou.

But we will find out in two weeks in the SECCG.
