Any visit to a college campus by a college-bound student-athlete or his or her parents paid for by the college is an official visit. Visits paid for by college-bound student-athletes or their parents are unofficial visits.

During an official visit the college can pay for transportation to and from the college for the prospect, lodging and three meals per day for both the prospect and the parent or guardian, as well as reasonable entertainment expenses including three tickets to a home sports event.

The only expenses a college-bound student-athlete may receive from a college during an unofficial visit are three tickets to a home sports event.

I havent searched the book yet, but they pretty clearly say "home" games on both official and unofficial. So my thought so far is aggies theory is wrong

ETA:

quote:

. A member institution may provide complimentary admissions to a prospective student-athlete for a home athletics event that has been relocated outside a 30-mile radius of the institution's main campus due to the home facility's inoperable conditions

quote:

] During the official visit, a maximum of six complimentary admissions to a home athletics event at any facility within a 30-mile radius of the institution's main campus in which the institution's intercollegiate team practices or competes may be provided to a prospective student-athlete

quote:

. During an unofficial visit, the institution may not pay any expenses or provide any entertainment except a maximum of three complimentary admissions (issued only through a pass list) to a home athletics event at any facility within a 30-mile radius of a member institution's main campus in which the institution's intercollegiate team practices or competes

quote:

If an institution schedules any regular-season home games at a site not designated as its regular home facility, the host institution may provide a maximum of three complimentary admissions to any such game for the exclusive use of a prospective student-athlete and those persons accompanying the prospective student-athlete. Tournament and postseason games are excluded. The institution shall not arrange or permit any other entertainment or payment of expenses, including transportation,

I'd say this settles the theory...

If he really wants to go just decommit and then recommit after the game. Not hard to play that bum

Well, I think it has been fairly telling that not one has really backed it up yet. Would be hard to prove either way.

See my ETA's. The NCAA pretty explicity says it has to be a home game for the team to provide any sort of tickets. They are not allowed to reserve tickets either. Tickets arent even allowed for the SEC CG if they are a home team

Is it an NCAA violation to bring recruits to an 'away" game? if so, there would never have been an "agreement"

Yes. There is also a limit on "neutral site" game visitors. If Arkansas uses Jerry World, it can't have visitors at Little Rock in the same season.

See top of the page. I didn't find anything on total number, just that they limited tickets to neutral games in comparison to actual home games.
