Spurrier is done

But I do think Les will land somewhere, SEC? Maybe not, but he will get a high profile job IMO

The best thing for the SEC West is that Arkansas wins 8 games this year. Their AD will then give Bert a new contract, so then we won't have to worry about the Razorbacks thur 2025.

Sumlin is about the best A&M can hope for. Elite coaches generally don't like walking into dumpster fires

Well I suppose it was partially proven by the hiring of Ogre-on.

With Nick Saban at LSU being an exception, right?

On the contrary; the best coaches prefer the challenge of building their own teams, as opposed to the monotony of maintaining other coaches' status quos.

But your sick burn is noted .

Saban wasn't considered an elite coach when he was hired at LSU

Bert won 7 games in 2014 then immediately got a raise and extension to 2020 with a $15,000,000 buyout until 2018.

When we do part ways with Bielema, I imagine we'll go after a spread coach this time
I don't care what offense they run as long as they're competent but imo this is the best way to go. The spread causes mismatches that can help cover talent diffencies. Especially since there's an option concept to it. And we seem to always be in a talent deficit in this conference

I would think this year will certainly be a better year to be on the market than last.

I think Chip Kelly is a no brainer hire if he's an option.

I really like Mike Gundy if he is tired of waiting for Pickens to die.

If Chad Morris is our last option, then I still like our chances for an upgrade over Sumlin. Sumlin's not an X's and O's guy, he's not a grinder on the recruiting trail, he's not a rah rah hype guy or a sweet old (grand) father figure type. He's just a lazy dickhead who has taken credit for other's success and road coat-tails to the easiest retirement in america.

I ditto all of this.

Last year was not the year for A&M to be in the market. There weren't many coaches up for sale, the big schools to either side of us were looking for coaches (and LSU had to settle for O, LOL, which shows how bad of a market it was) and Kelly was still in the NFL until January.

I think target #1 should be Kelly, the fallback should be Gundy - who publicly hates Boone Pickens and has posted amazing win totals given he's at OU's little brother competing with TCU and Tech for the leftover TX HS scraps - and the emergency guy should be Chad Morris IF he shows more improvement at SMU this season.
