Anyways, I think the reasoning is pretty sound. USC's defense is going to be tough as nails. Alabama won't score very many points at all. I give USC the edge because they have comparable talent to Alabama and catch Alabama at the opportune time to upset last season's National Champions.
Alabama will have another great football team, but they are going to have an adjustment period to start the season this year. New QB, new RB, and new defensive coaches across the board. Week one against another elite level team is a recipe for an upset in my eyes.

They lost damn near everyone on both sides of the ball last season.
The only bright spot for their team coming into this game was that they were returning a pretty damn good QB, but he screwed that up by being arrested for DUI, and blew something like a .119 at 5am a couple weeks ago. He has been suspended.
I mean, some teams can suffer losing so much talent, but not a mid-major going up against an SEC team in week one.
ETA: La Tech would need the wheels to fall completely off to have much of a chance. Like, if the Hogs turn the ball over 5 or 6 times, it will get dicey. Otherwise the Hogs win easily.

Summer of George doesn't like me talking shite against Alabama. It's as if he expects everyone to just fall in line and kiss Saban's feet. Like most Alabama fans, he is very insecure. It's not good enough to win Natty's, but he wants to see everyone praise his favorite team, or else he creates threads like this. You can see for yourself. Just start making posts about how you think Alabama is going to lose a game or two and he will start following you around the board being confrontational with you.
It's the same fanbase that brings you Harvey Updyke and grown arse women getting into fist fights at games when their team is losing.
