Not at all.

The way Nolan was treated was a disgrace. It's only fitting Arkansas has only made the tourney 3 times since then.

Hell, nearly any BCS conference school would qualify as a sleeping giant with the right coach. Basketball is very different than football where you require great facilities, recruiting proximity, massive fan support, tradition, and budgets, etc, plus 40-50 really good players to be successful. All you need in basketball is 4 or 5 really good players and a solid coach.....the sky is the limit at that point.

Other than a national title older than any recruit in America, Arkansas is not any different than the other fledgling basketball programs in the SEC.

I disagree. Fan support and home court advantage actually matter in college basketball. Any program like Arky who has fans who are willing to treat basketball as more than just filler until football season should have more success than places that focus on football or baseball.

Oh please tell me more.

I have stories, some are comical, some are not, but I don't pretend he didn't play a part in that situation at that time.

Dont follow Arkansas basketball, but isn't Arkansas the program that the head coach sued the school for racism or nazism or something? That cant help a program one would think,...

Arkansas fans will support all three sports, we were the only program in the top25 in attendance for all three sports last year.

blame frankie not me, i've always loved nolan even when he was pretty much insulting the whole state. i loved him so much i was hurt by that. anyway, nolan has forgiven (i'm sure not forgotten) and moved on, you'd think a non-entity like yourself could do the same.

Exactly, he inflamed the situation through the media for what he saw as racism form the AD and Chancellor, he wasn't being held to a different standard than the football coach, paid different, had less job security than the football coach over the Herrod incident, it was because of favoritism of football over basketball by the AD, an AD who wanted to de-emphasize basketball at the school and use the resources going towards basketball for football.

That is huge.

See I know A&M will never be a basketball power because we don't show enough support. Even in the mid-00s when I was in school we didn't appreciate what we had enough (even though crappy football should have forced appreciation).

And its more than attendance. The reason we have our current crappy coach is because when we went to hire a coach for what was then a top 25 program, none of our big boosters were willing to shell out the millions needed to steal Buzz.

Arky has the kind of fan support needed in BBall. What yall need is a good coach, but that is such a crapshoot that Arky bball might wander another 20 years in the desert trying to find one.

Yes,I remember it being in the early 00's Nolans last year. A fan shot his horse, even the AD was racist towards Richardson. The way he was treated is a disgrace, but I wouldn't expect anything different from hillbilly's in Arkansas. I was reading an article right after Arkansas beat Minnesota this year and an Arkansas fan was calling Anderson racist because they have no white people on their team.

He had a horse get shot, was never proven who did it or why. You have people drive around drinking and spot lighting around here, plenty of people have had livestock (cows and horses) shot by people thinking they are deer.

That was Nolan's claim, he couldn't prove it. It was favoritism of football over basketball more than anything. Frank saw the basketball program dwarf the popularity and support of his 64 football team and he didn't like it. Sutton was his type of basketball coach, do just enough to keep fan support and his job, would never win a NC. He thought he was getting another coach like that in Richardson.

That has been going on since Nolan's days, every fan base has their dumb asses.

We spent the cash for an established coach, our boosters were like "Why do you need that?" when asked to help build facilities. Arkansas is the only SEC team with out a PF for basketball.

Firing a coach and starting over every 3-4 years isn't going to change anything, at some point you have to stick with what you got and give them time to sort everything out. Long is highly likely to do that with Anderson.

As an Ohio State fan, you really want to lay out blanket statements based on a few retarded fans...? Seriously?
