Why do you think he'd be bad?
For the record, I'm not saying he would be bad.
Just that he is way to much of an unknown. At this point Arkansas cannot afford another set back!

With that said, I'm not exactly sure why Arky fans would be so confident in getting him.
Who says we are confident that we would get him.
I think its a very good chance that we make an offer and I think it would be a very lucrative offer.
I also think due to this fiasco. Boosters and BOT members could very well get silly with the money and probably will overpay for whichever coach we hire.
So we got a shot with Briles.

Dear God please let us hire Charlie Strong. Amen.

Any of you have any idea how much he's getting paid? It's a private university, so I assume not.
The guy who runs the Baylor 247 site says he is currently making 2.5 million.

Rational is a frowned on word at hogville

Why not?
He brought a Heisman trophy to Baylor of all places.
If Arkansas is as prestigious as you make it out to be, who says he can't be successful there?
One of the best coaches out there, IMO.
Let's be real here, if your AD goes out and hires John L. fricking Smith and thought he was a capable head coach, then you'll end up with an OL coach from Wyoming as your next head coach.

The key is good coordinators
If we can get Strong for 2.5-3 mil, I seriously hope we could pull in a homerun OC hire for 1-2 mil.
This would be the best situation IMO. I doubt Jeff Long will contemplate this though.

I feel like we need a defensive minded coach to get us to the next level

He might do well here, but like I said I think a defensive minded guy is our best shot

He only hired him because there weren't any good coaches to choose from at the time.... it's not like Long made a long term hire of Smith

ex-hogs OL coach just recently got fired, so his name has been thrown around as a joke.
