There was a time not long ago when Auburn was firmly behind Arkansas in the West.

Recruiting is very important, but so is development. Look at some of the best Arkansas teams since we joined the SEC. We were able to develop 3* guys to play like 4* and 5* guys. You gotta have the right coach to do that, which we haven't had in 5 years.

You do to make up for the disadvantages at Arky recruiting wise. Any innovative offense can help there. It's still a tall task though according to statistics. Not all 4/5* pan out, but they do at a much much higher rate.

Realistically, barring some game changing coach, we know we won't compete for the West EVERY year. But with the right people in place there is no reason we can't have a 10 win season and compete for the West every 3 to 5 years. Nutt did it. Petrino did it. Bert took us back to the dark ages, but we can reemerge.
