Arkansas fans

What exactly is it that makes y'all believe that your team is going to compete for the SEC West this year?
1) Starting QB is gone
2) Both RB's are gone (I am aware that Williams was injured)
3) Starting TE is gone
4) Starting OT, OG, and C are all gone
5) Outside Top 50 scoring defense
6) Outside Top 50 total defense
7) Outside Top 50 in sacks
8) Outside Top 50 3rd down defense percentage
9) Outside Top 50 interceptions on defense
10) Outside Top 50 fumble recoveries
Your graduated/drafted starters on offense accounted for 85% of your offensive yards, your defense was less than stellar, and you haven't had a Top 20 recruiting class since 2001 (247 national rankings).
Someone help me out here.

Who said we were going to compete for the West. In the prediction thread from yesterday, most Arkansas fans said 7-8 wins.
Although your points about our defense is a little moot because we return all but two players from our two deep rotation. Run defense has always been solid and I expect the Pass defense to step up this year. There are many questions on the offensive side but mostly the offensive line and QB.

Nobody said we were going to compete for the West. We do believe we will field a solid SEC team that is capable of Competing with anyone. Solid QB play would make this team scary.

I think even the Auburn, TAMU, and State homers know those three programs are gonna suck. Their only conference wins will be against each other.

I totally get it. We all got'em. Back when the Hogs were having a little run under Petrino there was always that fan that embarrassed the rest of us.

This is a concern for sure, but Austin Allen is a plenty capable QB who has been in this system for three years now. He may start out a little slow, but I fully expect him to be playing at a high level relatively quickly.
2) Both RB's are gone.
Bielema has ALWAYS (as in every year he has been a head coach) had a strong running game. I expect more of the same this year. He will have another freshman all american with 1,000 yards or more in Devwah Whaley.
3) Starting TE is gone.
This is true, and Hunter Henry was a damn good one. But Jeremy Sprinkle will prove to be quite capable himself. He is bigger than Henry. Faster than Henry, and has soft hands. He will be more than a handful. In fact, he has already proven to be the last two years.
4) Starting OT, OG, and C are all gone.
Biggest question mark on the team. Let's hope Kurt Anderson can get those guys whipped into shape quickly.
5-10) Defense.
The defense will be nasty.
Bigger question to me would be, what makes you think Ole Miss will be competitive with Arkansas? That 2 million dollar class lost to this team last year at home.

But I'll respond because you put a lot of time into this.
Our pass defense should be improved this season as we will have more experience and a new passing D coach who has a solid defensive record. We lost a lot of offensive talent but for once we have a fairly good stockpile of talent ready to step up.
The two big concerns, other then obvious growing pains, is in the O-line where we will have some depth issues and the perennial problem child for Bert since he's been here... our woeful special teams.
Unless the kicking game improves the Hogs will lose at least one, and probably more then one, game this year thanks to a blocked, hooked, shanked, or thudded directly into the center's backside FG. With Bert's style of play the Hogs have a tendency to be in a lot of close games, the kicking game becomes very critical then.
It will be the typical Bert team, under performing in the beginning of the season and likely to be fairly dangerous at the end. While our ending stretch is super nasty this year we get Florida, Ole Miss, Bama, and LSU at home later in the season.
We knock off one or two really good teams and finish around 7 or 8 wins is my guess.
