I doubt its true. We have a return trip due by the Longhorns which we lost when we started the series with A&M at JerryWorld.
Texas will get over themselves and eventually schedule y'all.
We went 12 years before scheduling a regular season football game with them after we joined the SEC.
We got matched with them in the 2000 Cotton Bowl, 9 years later, though.

LSU and TAMU was a better game this year, will be next year, and probably the year after that, so I wouldn't call it an upstaging if things don't change

LSU has petitioned the SEC office to move Arkansas off the thanksgiving day game and TAMU on. Arkansas has been in informal talks with Texas about replacing LSU on our schedule. The talks are informal since the game has not officially moved but our program supporters and boosters will not allow a Missouri type program to replace this game.

The game would be either Thursday or Friday, likely Friday as to not compete with NFL games.
