About once a week, I see an argument break out on here (imagine that!) about Bama having the most nattys in college football, or not. I don't quite understand the head butting. In a modern age of technology and google and everything, can't we just put this to rest once in for all? Here's the top 5...

5. Michigan and USC - 9
4. Notre Dame - 13
3. Princeton - 15
2. Alabama - 16
1. Yale - 18

I’d rather have the debate of “if the Ivy league woke up this morning and decided they wanted to be dominant in football again (I.e. dump their considerable resources into the arms race), could they do it and how long would it take?”

The Bama fans on here sure don't think it's settled. There are some who still declare they have more than anybody.

No, academic standards are far too high.

The real debate is How is everyone on this forum going to treat the UGA fans on here when we do something really record breaking and unprecedented, like 4-Peating!?

Not if you're a colored person.

Concern me?...just clearing the air. As an Auburn fan, I would think you would feel pretty good about informing Bama fans they really do NOT have more nattys than anyone else...no?

Doesn't matter to me. I've witnessed more football national championships in my life than any fan of any other school has for their school. Unless you are a Yale fan over 100 years old. Then congrats I guess.

Nah. Being a national title contending team isn't JUST about money. A team like Texas has always had mega money and a big time, enormous brand name in a major conference and they have 1 national title in the last 50 years, and needed a transcendent generational player to do it. Texas A&M lately has used their considertable money to basically buy anything and everythign they can to win games and look where that's gotten them.

At the end of the day we all know that National Championships when athletes were true student athletes mean a lot more.

For example 1939.

I don't see why they couldn't be. They're obviously willing to lower their admissions standards for nonsensical reasons.

Example: David Hogg at Harvard.

Gees...look at the downvotes, just for stating facts. Angry Bama fans, I guess? But isn't that like downvoting someone for stating that 2+2 = 4?

Only if the answer to 2+2 was determined by biased and subjective voting for a century

We've been told ad nauseum that anything before the poll era doesn't count. Now we're counting a national title from 1872 in which a team went 1-0 and didn't employ a head coach.

Sounds good - keep the Alabama-centric content coming Darreen. Be sure to let us know what your family members in Piedmont think about Yale's 1879 championship where they went 3-0-2.

You should probably contact their admissions office.

Just imagine how thrilled they will be to know that after being held back all these years, you have the solution to finally make them a top tier school.

What selection criteria are you using? If you use NCAA records of what they deemed "major" selectors Alabama is third.

1. Princeton 28
2. Yale 27
3. Alabama 23
4. Notre Dame 22
5. Michigan/Oklahoma/USC 17

But I doubt any Alabama fans really care, we've been the most dominant program for the what, the last 50 or 60 years? The next closest SEC team on that list has 8.

Why the venom, I'm just stating facts bro?

By the way, since you're so concerned about my Bama fam and friends out there, would you like to hear some of the rumors they've told me circulating around the alums and Bama highschool coaches over there? But then again, I better not discuss it, it's bound to violate some sort of rules on this forum.

Pre playoff National titles can be extremely dubious
