All that oil money and SEC membership. TAMU should at least be fronting 2 million for a coach and some respectability. How much does TAMU pay Blair?

Wouldn't matter if we did.
Money isn't the issue.

I believe Blair makes a base salary of about $800K.

Versus other SEC coaches, we're probably underpaying. But it's probably about right.

RTR, I get the sarcasm; but we're pretty much paying and doing nothing w "our" money & hoops.

At all.

I loathe basketball, so it doesn't bother me in the least. It prob should. We're too big/grand of a university to be as lousy at men's basketball as we are. I'm surprised the PTB have allowed the status quo to remain as it has.

I probably loathe baseball even more

That doesn't mean I am not extremely excited about the renovations they are making to our baseball stadium.

I want all of our programs to be successful. We are bringing in too much money for them not to be.

What is frustrating is outside of basketball and baseball, majority of our sports programs are pretty damn successful.

Pretty common metric. Wins at the end of the year would be a lot better, unfortunately my magic 8 ball is in the shop for repairs.

Not really because you are giving a school credit for playing a bunch of terrible teams, but punishing others for playing a difficult schedule.

I find it hard to believe 3.5mil a year is being underpaid, but I guess it is what the market is paying these days.

He is priceless (Billy), but I think what some coaches get paid is getting pretty ridiculous. There is a lot wrong with college sports, and letting kids being needy.

No, it's not.

UK makes $21M/year in men's bball revenue.
A&M makes $9.7M.
So counting wins versus coach's salary while ignoring overall revenue is silly.

A program's revenue is not directly correlated to the coach. He has some effect on it sure, but people are still going to attend sporting events at 0 wins.

What about a schools first Championship in 14 years? A final four appearance? An elite eight appearance the year before that?

Your metric is dumb.

Correct. I would guess a large portion of A&M's men's basketball revenue comes from the SEC TV deal so you'd have to subtract that portion out in calculating Kennedy's $/win.

The chart was coach's salary divided by the team's wins. What the hell are you talking about?

Hence why I said end of the year would be better.

I think every BCS level college coach, and NFL coaches are grossly overpaid.

With that said,Cal is worth every dime he gets.
