Do you think he has the potential to turn the program around? Would you rather have hired another coach?

Petrino went 5-7 his first year. We'll be fine.

I absolutely think he has what it takes. It's going to be a few years before Arkansas really starts to look like a Bielema coached team. It's easier to bring in some gimmicky OC and win immediately, but if you want to establish a program that can actually compete nationally, it's going to take a few years

Petrino also won 2 SEC games and didn't get blown out as bad.

I don't know. Still a couple of winnable games on our schedule.

how do you expect Bielema to win head to head against LSU and Bama if he can't recruit?

There's no one better at the time they could have gotten. Beilima is a winner and just takes time to get everything together. When he took over for Alvarez, Wisconsin took a dip over the next 3 years but rebounded to become a staple at the Rose Bowl. I think, if Arkansas wasn't an impatient SEC school and gave him time, Brett will lead the Razorbacks to relevance in 3 or 4 years time.

Petrino was the best thing that EVER happened to ya'll and your AD fires him. Should have suspended him like 99% of every other schools wold have done. I know I don't miss Petrino kicking our arse every year by 30 points.

Wasn't it Gene Stallings who said Petrino left Arky in bad shape with very little talent?

When he took over for Barry he had his best year ever at 12-1 and beat his only SEC team in a bowl (coincidentally Arkansas) the first of only two bowl victories he would have.

Yes he did dip after that but only built back up when the scheduling started getting easier and the traditional B1G powers started slumping. Sure he got to three Rose Bowls but look how he did it, he never coached teams of his kids to outright legitimate championships. He got lucky each time. And how many of those RBs did he win? How many RBs did Barry win? Dude is a sham.

I don't think anybody saw this kind of season coming for Arkansas.

No... wait... EVERYBODY saw this season coming.

Arkansas
Opposing coaches size up the Razorbacks:

“They are going to be terrible. What they are doing now, it’s the product of bad recruiting. They have a long way to go. That’s nothing against the new coach (Bret Bielema). But they are going to be terrible in Year 1." ...

"They are really going to struggle. What happened was they had eight starters who got injured, and they were fighting an uphill battle all of last year. I think they’ll struggle up front, they’ll struggle in the secondary, the linebackers should be average." …

"They are going to be slim in a lot of spots. It’s going to take them three years to get a good foundation. It’s a product of bad recruiting — which is typical of a Bobby Petrino school. It’s the same thing that happened at Louisville that got Steve Kragthorpe fired. Petrino didn’t leave him any players. It’s the same thing at Arkansas. They have no players on defense. Petrino would load up on offense and leave the cupboard bare. That’s why he can’t ever get over the hump." …

"If you want to be competitive in the SEC, you better have big, strong defensive linemen, physical guys, and lockdown corners. If you don’t have that, you don’t have a chance. And right now they don’t have that." …

"I don’t know really how good they are up front offensively, but I’m kind of skeptical based on what I know."

"I think the young running back, Jonathan Williams, is going to be good for them. We liked him out of high school.”

Yes, I'm happy. He gets three years to turn it around from me.
