Insert the name of any SEC school here

Wow dude. Being the only SEC school in Texas is a conference-wide cliche? Every school in the SEC runs a variation of the no-huddle air raid? Every school in the SEC has has more than 50k students and a 6+ billion dollar endowment? Every school in the SEC has a fish Heisman winner and made a 3 months long assault on the offensive record book in their first season in the conference?

quote:

Now you guys see why the rest of the conference is laughing out the side of their mouths at how silly aTm is acting over a 5 place finish in the conference.

lol I'm actually wondering how the hell you read my post and then wrote what you wrote. Almost everything I posted (other than the facilities and fan support) is completely unique to A&M.

I was thinking you might be smart enough to fill in the blank. Do you think anyone in LA or Tenn. or GA or FL or SC has ever said "We are the only SEC school in ________? Think about it a little. Save your 50 trillion la la la students and 50 trillion dollar endowment. I know aTm has a huge endowment but every fan thinks their school has the money is plenty big. Ark is Walmart money, AL is old money etc. Yeah JFF had a "three month long assault" yada yada ya. This conference went through all of that with Tebow and Cam and Gus Malzahn already tried that high school no huddle air raid shite you think is new around here. I'm sorry Hand but aTm's song and dance is a rerun. Your points are not unique to aTm. They are tired and old.

Population
Ark: 2.9
LA: 4.5
Bama: 4.8
Mississippi: 3
Georgia: 9.8
South Carolina: 4.6
Tenn: 6.3
Florida: 19
Texas: 25.6

The population differences show you that being the SEC school in Texas is a much bigger deal than being the SEC school in Tenn or Alabama; Texas produces a lot more talent simply due to its size. You can point to Florida, but they support the idea that being the only SEC school in a populous state is a big deal. When Urban was there and had them humming, they had a top five class every year. Muschamp is looking like he'll do the same thing. Being the only SEC school in a big state is a huge advantage.

Also, Texas is in a unique situation geographically. It's a really big state, which runs up travel times and, compounding that, it's on the far west end of the conference, which isolates it from the rest of the SEC schools (which is good for us when it comes to recruiting). You can live in Mississippi, play at LSU or Bama, and still only be a few hours from home. Mom and Dad can still come see your games on the weekend. That's not possible with Texas kids. If you live in Dallas, Arky is an option. If you live in Houston, LSU is. That's about it. Go to any other SEC school and mom and dad are only coming to 1-2 games/year.

And it worked, didn't it? Florida was a top 10 team just about every year under Urban, so if anything that argument supports the fact that A&M's unique system can help attract talent.

So yea. A&M isn't guaranteed anything, but you're not evaluating things clearly if you don't think it has some bigtime natural advantages that could help it build a program with legit staying power

Make. It. Stop.

A&M had a great season. Beat us on our field, won the Heisman with a frosh, has a great coach, that frosh coming back, and they have a bright future. Let them talk, they earned it.

Why does it bother you so? And these types of posts make all of us look like jackasses

Ted gets it, and is talking like a winner. The rest of the LSU and Bama posters sound way too threatened.

So what are you trying to say? That SEC schools only recruit in their own states?

If so, you really need a reality check ... or, at the very least, you need to check some rosters.

It's not where you recruit ... it's who you sign. Big difference.

Additionally, how many other schools are there in Texas recruiting those same players? Off the top of my head, Texas, Baylor, TCU, Rice, SMU, Texas Tech - who am I forgetting? Not to mention that everyone and their brother recruits Texas, including Oklahoma, Arkansas, LSU, Bama, SoCal, Nebraska, etc., etc., etc.

Now, compare that to other schools around the SEC. See how that works?

"Delusional" and "classless" are so overused on this site that they have become essentially meaningless, except for the following definitions. Delusional - Someone who says something I disagree with or someone who says something about their team that I would say about my team. Classless - Something that another team did that I would find utterly fine/excusable if my team did it. Just stop it. All of you.

Unlike Arky, they at least have the in-state talent/platform, that projects longterm to the plausible possibility, of a sustained excellence.

The Hogs my friend, will always be a Dickie V 'Dow Joneser' at best.

ND has rich history of terrible football the past 20 years. Has got to be the most over-hyped college football team ever. I applaud them for having a good season this year, but success from 50 years ago means nothing today

What it all comes down to is teams go up and down over the years, yes even LSU and Bama. Fans should be happy and gloat when their team has good seasons and years. Every team has delusional fans that act like complete jackasses on occasion. A&M is catching shite because NO ONE predicted this type of season. These type of threads make the Rant!!!

I've been saying they were delusional since mid season. It increased exponentially after they beat Bama. If they ever win the SEC or NC, they will really be insufferable.

Pretty bad. Sumlin will find out year 2. He will win some games but they hosts of southern miss will haunt his arse. Why? It is really about ball control. Not how many yards you get between the 20's. they could not do to UGA what Bama did for example. UGA was nasty on defense for passing so Bama pounded them just as lsu did to them the year before.

So what does that make A&M then? Barely a program?
