I wonder if Peyton is regarded any differently if he wins either a NC

Eli.
he had no body to help him.
Except for the GOAT long snapper in SEC history, AJ Kiamie.

Give me Archie hands down.

Peyton and Archie were two completely different types of qb it's hard to compare them.
None of Archie's sons got his athleticism AND throwing ability. Cooper go the athleticism while Peyton and Eli got the arm. Maybe Marshall got his grandfather's genes and will return Ole Miss to glory

they beat a FSU team that would have manhandled that Tenn team with a healthy QB.
Yeah, no. Don't act like UT was some scrub team. We had 28 players drafted in the '99 draft. Even with weinke, they wouldn't have "manhandled" us

Marshall's a vol, you stay away

From my experience, almost everyone old enough to see Archie play will tell you he was a legend in the college game. I take their word for it, considering the level of respect he has from opposing fans.
Peyton has a long history of consistently beating the teams that aren't as good, but he has a rather shaky history in big games, particularly in college. Given the talent around him at Tennessee, more should be expected of him, so I would put him behind Archie.

I hate to bring up the eye test but watching Peyton Manning at Tennessee was amazing
Eli was also very very good but Peyton Manning was just....wow

Manning's are OM locks when we aren't on probation

Eli was also 2-0 against Florida while big bro was 0-4

You summarized Peyton very well

Especially when you consider this

I mean, he won every "big game" he played in except the orange bowl his last season. He was 1-0 in the SECC, and 3-1 in bowls. I guess if you call the Florida game a big game then you are kinda right.

Granted Eli beat Florida under Zook and Peyton had to deal with Spurrier

Cooper has a son too, named Archie.

Peyton against any team that wasn't Florida. Then again Florida was basically the only team he played with equal talent (other than Nebraska in 97 who also kicked his arse).
Peyton had the same issues in college he does today, against teams with equal or better talent he presses too hard and fails. He's like a machine-- really, really, good almost perfect as long as everything is just right, but throw things out alignment just a little bit and...well collapse is inevitable.

Alright I'll take him. That's just destiny.

I mean, he's won a Super Bowl...

Eli seems to be more "clutch" than Peyton as well. Eli in the 4th quarter and in the playoffs is probably better than Peyton in the same situations.
