This is actually more appropriate than you may realize...our fans have actually stormed the field and attempted to tear down the goal posts TWICE, thinking we had won in games that we actually lost...both for the fifth down game vs Colorado and after the Nebraska bicycle kick miracle catch, our fans rushed the field thinking it was over and good guys won. At the Neb game they literally turned the hoses on our fans to clear the field. Can't make this shite up.

At the moment in time captured on this photo in 1997, there are 0 seconds left in the 4th quarter and Mizzou is leading #1 ranked Nebraska as the Huskers' final pass attempt is about to fall incomplete in the endzone or else by picked off by the outstretched fingertips of Mizzou's cornerback #2. However, the Husker lying on the ground proceeds to bicycle kick the ball back into the air (this is actually illegal, but not called by the ref) and another Husker makes a diving catch in the endzone. Nebraska goes on to be awarded the 1997 national championship by virtue of having (allegedly) won this game. video

In 1990, Colorado trailed Mizzou by five as the final seconds ticked down. The Buffs made it to first and goal, but after 4 downs, had failed to get in the endzone. However the umps had somehow literally forgotten to change the down marker between second and third down, and a fifth down was awarded to the Buffs, upon which the CU running back barely slipped across the goal line (photos later showed his knee pretty clearly down, and the crowd thought this to such extent that many fans rushed the field in celebration). Colorado goes on to be awarded a share of the 1990 national championship by virtue of having (allegedly) won this game.

The above both happened in the north endzone of Mizzou's stadium, which, if you're scoring at home, is also the spot where "laces out, Dan" just happened this weekend.
