I have a vintage JoMo hat and a vintage JoMo visor. My dad graduated in 1980 ,and he and my mom have had season tickets since then. I don't wear them that much.

... until that '87 Gator Bowl against LSU, we ran into a buzz saw. LSU may have been one of the best teams in the country that year honestly. I think they had a tie against OSU and a close loss to Bama or they would have played for the national championship ... two close games if I remember.
That was my freshman year at LSU. That team was definitely loaded. Most talented LSU team until the heydey of Saban/Miles. And it was also before Mike Archer had to start recruiting replacements. (He won with Arnsparger's players.)

As Todd Kinchen said later of that '87 team as Archer was being shown the door a few years later, "The 3 Stooges could have coached that team to 10 wins."

The one LSU defeat was a 22-10 loss to Alabama. I think Tommy Hodson either didn't play or sat most of it because of injury. Should have beaten Ohio State.

LSU always had success against Joe Lee Dunn, for the most part, and this was the first one. South Carolina had Sterling Sharpe and a great team, but their defense couldn't stop LSU's offense that day.

Sports Illustrated and Tommy Chaiken killed Joe Mo. SCAR steroid scandal

You are correct. I don't know if Morrison would have survived another year in the job anyway after the steroid scandal. The Athletic Director was fired.I was at Carolina then, and it was devastating news when he died.

IDK what spurred this thread into creation but i'm glad that it did. Didn't know much about JoMo as I'm only 27 but I definitely need to get one of those hats.
