I most certainly do , it was time to part ways. IMO, he was a great embassador of the program. The way he befriended Sid, it's just a tragic story. Of course he gets a nice going away severance package.

All this sounds fine, until it happens to you and then you'd be doing the same thing LSU did.

Of course. Whether he is a millionaire many times over is irrelevant to how difficult this has to have been for him and his family. Not saying it was the wrong move, either, but sure, I have sympathy for him.

Absolutely. I think with the right team and decent talent, he would take them to a natty appearance.

I don't feel sorry for Les. Most people who disregard the wishes of their boss, and fail while doing so, end up fired much quicker - and they don't get $10 million as they exit.

Probably pay him 1.6 million a year for the next 6 years.

One thing is for certain...the SEC is less fun than it was a week ago.

For you

I loved Les, but you have to produce and at the least be competitive with the resources he was given

Agreed. I hope he takes over for Lee Corso one day. He's great for College Football.

pe. He's about to get paid millions to do nothing... that means all the time and money he needs to eat a lot of grass

You see this is the problem with young people. It's not all about the money. Les is a coach thatswhat he is in His soul. It's his identity. Why do you think guys like Bowden, Bear, Paterno coach for so long. They had more than enough money. If it was about money Les could have left last year and saved the heart ache. Carried off the field by his players. Instead he chose to come back and do what he was born to do. Most of us will never get that profound sense of completeness knowing who and what you are your calling. I feel terrible for him and hope he gets an opportunity to coach not just anywhere but somewhere he will be successful and feel like he belongs.

do you think LSU will ever do anything in return for everything that he gave?

I think the millions and millions of dollars he was paid just about covers this. Maybe let him take a ziplock bag of Tiger Stadium grass with him too.

but the way it was done was sorta rough

Sort of rough? Tell him to only take 1 million a year and we'll treat him like a lady. For the money he was making, he should expect anything he gets...just win baby!
