Anybody still think Milroe is a Heisman caliber quarterback?

Yes,

He just needs to work on his pocket presence.

He's really athletic.

Who actually thought this? List the names.

Every time this discussion came up the last few weeks from what I saw it was insecure LSU fans attacking the notion, but no one actually making that argument.

There were plenty of rival fans thought so, even a few LSU posters on this board, not to mention enough Heisman voters that he got enough votes to place #6.

Personally I never once thought he was among the 6 best players in the nation or even the 6 best quarterbacks. I think he had a very good team around him on both sides and Alabama would probably have won with a better qb, even though the center had a horrible game.

yes the potential is there. He has not taken many snaps yet. So next year he should improve a lot.

The potential is definitely there, this offseason is crucial. Is Simpson coming back?

He says so but there is another transfer portal in April though a player has to go this time to be eligible to play in the SEC next season

Yes, in terms of eligibility remaining. He's a former 5-star recruit who was a redshirt freshman this past season.

Also signed (and early-enrolled) 5-star Julian Sayin, second-best dual-threat quarterback in the country from the current class.

So while Saban isn't generally known to pull an established starter—Hurts aside—Milroe might have legitimate compeition from two or even three guys during the offseason.

And Lonergan. Practice observers have said all year that he looks good. I don’t really expect all 4 to be around after the next portal but who knows

Milroe makes horrible decisions under pressure and is simply saved by athleticism of himself and those around him. He also isn’t a great passer so he’s going to throw a few passes a game that are off the mark with potential for turnovers.

No one in Tuscaloosa thought that either...while we were happy he was playing better, he still was terrible.

The Heisman keeps going from “the dude with the most wins” (bama fans) to “the dude with the best stats should win” (lsu fans), and vice versa. The Heisman used to go to the dude that put a team on his back and had to be Superman, every game and on a Championship run. That’s my rant.

You remember when Heisman winners had to have Heisman moments? A game changing play that completely changed the momentum of the game, that led to an improbable victory, upset, or maybe that play sparked a blow out. What would you say was Milroe’s most memorable play of the year?

Yeah, he was actually the "even three" I was considering.

Probably doesn't have a high probability with a returning starter and two five-stars on the roster, but I'm certainly rooting for him to do well.

Look, we don't like it either, but there is no denying that this is a trend seen in modern QBs — you just described Jalen Hurts in college.

Give me a statue who stands in the pocket and delivers absolute darts all day, but it is what it is.

That just isn't true.

Auburn was 8-4 the year Bo Jackson won the Heisman, for an example.

Not sure why everyone started the narrative about the Heisman being a team award this season, it never has been.

And to OP, yes, I believe Milroe is capable of being a Heisman contender.

If Saban has any desire to be an elite team, he tells Milroe to go kick rocks.
