I agree the dude spewed hot gas out of his mouth half the time, but isn’t that what made listening to the commentary actually worthwhile? The lad had a perfect announcer voice and the constant gafs ironically made it worth not muting the announcers. Maybe I’m an odd man out appreciating the comedy rather the cliche commentary

I don’t care about Gary Danielson telling me Herman Johnson is the biggest baby in Louisiana. What I care about is Verne rambling incoherently and projecting that sweet sweet voice when a huge play goes down

Random but I think about the 2007 Arkansas Florida SECC. Arkansas made a big comeback and verne’s “Touchdown Arkansas!!” Emphatic proclamation had my three inch peen full mast

Rambling further Gary and Verne were the perfect sweet little idiot tandem. Verne’s simplicity mixed with Gary patronizing us over how much he knows about Missouri’s rushing trend the last three games left this little corndog oddly satisfied

Verne's all time best call was asking Gary if Greg Childs' catch and run of about 50 yards was an incomplete pass.

2009 Arkansas vs Florida- AKA- Mike Slive's greatest heist.

Is this an incomplete pass??

Verne saying Lincoln for the lead with 2 seconds left on the clock before the field goal was kicked is peak lundquist.

Exactly. I’d rather listen to a goof than Gary lecturing me on Alabama having a (big surprise) great offense

My body is ready for the dumb takes and I’ll miss that, baw

I miss his mispronunciation of every name with a “Mc” to start it off.

I was blessed to grow up in the Dallas area where Verne covered the Cowboys for one of the 3 TV stations we had. So my fond memories may be more about the Cowboys than Verne. In any case, yeah I miss him, too.

Verne knew when to leave gracefully, unlike certain announcers on game day.

I loved listening to Verne before he started making so many mistakes. I dont mind Brad Nessler either. Danielson, however, makes me sick with his obvious Bama bias

I can remember listening to Verne Lundquist host “Bowling for Dollars” as a kid in Dallas. He brought a special brand of entertainment even back then.
