2nd reason is I believe it's a very winnable game for us against a team that should be ranked pretty high at that time
Glad you are coming and hope you have a great time
And yes, it's a "winnable" game for y'all
We SHOULD win, but we aren't good enough to take anyone for granted...

Thanks. What's your thought on what the kickoff time may be? Based on the schedule that day, looks like CBS is an option unless they take UK/UF again.

You mean Jacksonville.... he beat us and made a name in Jacksonville.
Although Jacksonville is like Starkville with a beach.
no, his 1st "big win" was against Richt's Dawgs in Starkville in 2010 - the tear we lost the Liberty Bowl - he went 9 - 5 that year and his win against us was what put him & MS State on "the map" - funny since that was one of our worst teams in the last several decades...
yes, he was amazing against us as UF's OC - but beating Georgia that year won him a lot of goodwill and was his 1st big win

if we beat ND, then that game is a lock for a good time slot
if we lose to ND, it will depend on your record - UGA is a great TV draw, if you beat LSU, it's a lock for the 2.30 on CBS no matter what we do in South Bend

I bet UGA fans are licking their chops for the chance to go in dry on a Grantham defense.

This ^^^. Frick Grantham.

Not sure a win over UGA in 2010 made CDM's reputation. The win over UF in the Swamp was bigger as was the waxing of Michigan in the Gator Bowl later that season.
As for this season, we will see what happens. UGA certainly favored with it being at home but State is certainly capable of winning this game. We will have a better feel for both teams after each has played a couple of games.

It's funny to see the State fans talk him up. They don't realize they're in trouble having him.

After last year, anything will be an improvement. Our D was as formidable as melted butter last year.
So we can't help but be better this year.
I basically know nothing about Grantham. What he has done or not done prior to this year is immaterial to me. We will see what our D looks like on the field in September and then go from there.
If we have a pulse this year on D, we will already be better than 2016.

You'd be bottom 3 team in the east nearly every year.
Lol no. Just no. Auto wins: Missouri, Vandy, Kentucky. Likely wins: Tennessee, USC. 50/50: UGA, FLA
Hogs finish top 3 every season in the east. Book it.

And while I hate the fact we go to La Tech the second week of the season, having a road game like that will be valuable before going to Athens. It kind of reminds me of the trip to USA before the LSU game in '14, somewhat of a dress rehearsal on the road for the team before we get into the SEC schedule. Of course if we drop a turd the week after against LSU it won't mean a whole lot and we probably get stomped by UGA.

you are delusional
you get smoked by UF & UGA almost every time you play, same is true for UT
that gives you 3 losses most years just to start
your all time record against Mizzou is 3 - 5
batting .375 - losing more often than you win - no auto win there
not so much for your series with Kentucky either - Hawgs have a losing record to the Wildcats as well (won 3, lost 4) - being generous, that is a 50/50 game for you
South Carolina? winning record there for the Hawgs, but at 13 - 9 ; we have to call this another 50/50 game
Vandy is the one team you have dominated with a 7 - 2 record
who would be your west opponent? unless you draw a MS school, another likely loss every year (and your record against the Rebels is another 50/50/ affair)
so you start MOST years with 4 built in losses and the rest are 50/50 type games, with Vandy as your one game that looks likely as win every year
finishing top 3 every year in the East would be very unlikely for the Hawgs, just based on your on field performance every year since joining the SEC

Factor in the overall weakness of the East, which is bad, and the Hogs easily finish top 3 on average.

the "weakness" of the East is a misnomer - it has more to do with UGA, UT & UF not being "elite level", but just better than average the last decade or so; but still much stronger than the bottom half of the SEC West (which includes Arky)
you had a decent run with Petrino & Arky is a top 25 team all time, but not top half of the SEC East
your program is 10 - 10 against the East this last decade
Arkansas has performed like a program that would be middle of the road in the SEC East

Sucks that the play on the field proves you wrong, though. Hogs beat FLA last season. Beat Tenn the last 2 or 3 times they played. They are 1-1 with UGA the last two times they played. The 3 best east teams are weaker than the bottom half of the SEC West.

Do you really honestly believe that Arky is a better program than UF, UGA, or Tennessee?

except it doesn't prove me wrong
I went back a decade & showed that you are .500 against the East - that = middle of the pack
I really don't like this discussion because I don't want to hate on Arkansas
but you are acting like an insufferable homer
I went back 10 years, but it really does not matter how far back we go - Arky would always fall in the middle of the pack in SEC East
last 3 years? Arky is 3 - 3 against the East
5 years? you are 4 - 6
15 years? you guys are 13 - 17 against the East; want to go back 20? or 25? (*hint - you do not want to do that, the numbers get worse for the Hawgs...)
hell, why not - 16 - 24 against the East the last 20 years
20 - 30 against the East for that last 25 years
PLUS - throw in an SECCG loss to UGA & you are actually 20 - 31 against the East since joining the conference
so, your chest pumping and Bama/LSU/Aub dick riding DOES NOT make your program a top tier SEC East team
sorry to bust your delusion bubble with facts...
no matter how you slice it, Arky is a middle of the road program in the SEC East and it does not matter what time frame you audit

No, because that's not what I said.

How would Arky finish top 3 in the East every year if they're worse than those teams more often than not?
