Just having the whole crowd 'Roll Tide, Roll' when that song (Sweet Home Alabama) comes on, and when they get a big play how loud they get," said Ole Miss senior defensive back Mike Hilton. "It's a fun atmosphere."

Said Mississippi State senior defensive lineman Ryan Brown: "The fans make them crazy, the music and just the atmosphere of it is crazy."

Survey taken after Lord Saban commanded the fans to stay longer than 1 or 2 quarters?

My experience there is limited to Iron Bowls - very nice stadium but not particularly loud.

Maybe not to an auburn fan on the sec rant, but the guys that actually play against Alabama there seem to think so. It's the damndest thing

Me too. Been to plenty of games in Jordan Hare. Their crowd absolutely impacts big games. Their stadium desperately needs some upgrades, but their fans are as loud as any and definitely creates a hostile environment for the road team.

Survey was from a little more than a dozen players, with 14 teams in the SEC, you are going to have quite a few not on there

I'd say Death Valley is louder, but I think the reason one would put BDS at the top has more to do with the atmosphere. Players walk onto the field and know they're playing Alabama, which is probably a little intimidating.

I don't know how much of that is that the "atmosphere" is tough for opponents as it is that you are usually going up against a team in the top 5. My experience at BDS hasn't led me to think it's the toughest, I would go with either Tiger Stadium or Gainesville.

Hardly an impartial source.

Tigger Stadium @ night is #1, by a large margin.

Well if it had to do with their opponent then it seems like that would intimidate them before they even saw the atmosphere. Unless we're talking about really special players that didn't know they were playing Alabama until they walked into a stadium with a sea of crimson and white.

Not sure I agree with this.

On Iron Bowl Saturday, yes, its as electric and loud as anywhere. The rest of the games, and I am a season tix holder, its not. LSU is the best in-game atmosphere I have ever seen but I dont know how games are outside of the LSU-Bama game. Auburn is also very impressive but again, I've only sen it for Iron Bowls.

Back in the Peyton Manning days, Tennessee was as intimidating as anywhere.
