I went to Athens for the game this past year. I had a blast and the fans were great, but I wouldn't say it's the best in the sec.

Oxford is great, but not buying a list without Athens.
And hate on Lexington haters. Keeneland + Football game is a hell of a weekend.

Why does it matter?
I'm thinkin' most of us loved our college experiences/towns and wouldn't trade em for anything.
Oxford & Athens: You can split your trophy.

Sadly only one SEC town made the list.
Sadly, several large cities made the list. College towns should be maybe 50K - 100K max.

Hating on OM can be great fun but I like Oxford. The only negative is the archaic drinking laws

That's not the "only" negative by a long shot; but in the spirit of this thread--congratulating our division colleagues on their 2009 poll listing--I'll keep my editorial commentary to myself.

Having lived in both Ann Arbor and Athens, I can only say that, while enjoying both immensely, I would choose Athens every single day, and twice on Saturdays. The ONLY thing that Ann Arbor has over Athens is that the Middle Eastern food within easy driving distance is top notch.

Ann Arbor is quite a nice town, though, apart from being butt-arse cold much of the year. I'm not that familiar with Athens as a place to live.
