Son, don't let your hopes get up too high.

You don't think the fact that Gordon barely played in the second half and the fact that your defense looked a lot better in the second half are related?
You should go back and watch the game, especially the second half.
(3) possessions with (3) 3-and-outs for Wisconsin.
Possession 1 featured a 2-yard loss by Gordon..they are thus forced to pass on second down and third
Possession 2 featured a stop on Gordon for no gain. Again, forced to pass on 2nd and 3rd
Possession 3, false start. Yet another passing situation the next few downs.
During that span LSU scores 14 points with their possessions. Now Wisconsin is really falling apart' with the score 24-21. This is when panic mode sets in, and I agree, Gordon is abandoned.
Possession 4 results in an INT, LSU goes up 28-24, Wisconsin never recovers.

U need to worry about your own team this week, and Bama's trip to Baton Rouge!!! What happen to the great Coker, LSU is taking over"believe that"!!!

Cool. Anyone want to look at these two teams and give me some reasoning besides "it's LSU"?
LSU is better on both sides of the line of scrimmage, has more talent and better coaches. Y'all have the advantage at quarterback. That's it.

quote:Yes, your defense certainly played better against the run and Gordon in the second half, but at this point, he was already hurt. I know another poster mentioned this and it certainly has merit, but y'all were blitzing the run gaps more in the second half which was of course working well. Obviously, McEvoy was having a terrible game which allowed for this relatively easily. Do you think your secondary is good enough to allow for the LBs to do this against better teams? I know your secondary is really good, but having to compensate for 1 or 2 of the LBs blitzing will certainly be a challenge.

I love how everyone is hoping LSU only stopped the run game vs Wisky in the second half just b/c Gordon got hurt. If you weren't paying attn...we put our corners on an island and stacked the box so there was NO where for their run game to go. We didn't do that in the first half. I don't care how good a RB is, if you have no holes you have no where to go. And since then? No one has been able to move on our D run or pass. Go ahead and believe the LSU team you saw in the first half of the entire season is what you see going forward...yeah that would be real smart thinking

IF State actually WINS this year, this board WILL crash.

quote:Will you be able to do that against teams that have better passing attacks? You will likely have to run a lot of nickel against both us and A&M, so you won't really be able to stack the box like that. I am fine accepting that the change in strategy helped a lot with run defense although I still think Gordon going out had a major impact on the game.

I have explained this. As of now they are 4 deep at all positions in the secondary and can stop all.

You can think what you want
quote:you might not be following lsu very closely. depth on the line is something lsu has. experience is not something lsu has. despite that, the line appears to be solid and getting better.
lack of depth at DT
9 straight quarters without giving up a point. that's impressive.

Fine. You can change "depth" to "proven talent" and the point is the same.

Blowout nah, but def can win....I'm saying 35-31 moo state

quote:absolutely, without question, no doubt about it. lsu's secondary is freakin awesome at this point. as in, can handle any team's passing game with 100% confidence.
Do you think your secondary is good enough to allow for the LBs to do this against better teams?
lsu is as good in the secondary as last year and better on the line and at lb. this is a better lsu defense. add a better than expected offense and it's a solid, respectable team that will be hard to beat.
I did notice that you backtracked from Gordon didn't play to Gordon was hurt. and then to mcevoy was terrible. we hear the same thing every year. opponent is good until lsu beats them. then they suck. how many ranked teams does lsu have to beat before that rhetoric is nonsense?
