How is that stat relevant to his comment?

I'm glad you brought my attention to that. I had read it (and then read it again) as if it said "It seems like LSU wins every time they play at South Carolina."

That's on me.

LSU's won the baseball title 7 times since 1992. 4 times LSU has had to win a series in Columbia in order to win the league.

June Raines
1992 - Columbia
LSU 4 USC 1
LSU 3 USC 1
LSU 4 USC 0

1996 - Columbia
LSU 15 USC 2
LSU 0 USC 2 (7 innings)
LSU 4 USC 2 (7 innings)

Ray Tanner
2009 - Columbia
LSU 3 USC 7
LSU 10 USC 3
LSU 11 USC 3

2012 - Columbia
LSU 5 USC 2
LSU 4 USC 5
LSU 3 USC 2 (10 innings)

hard to win the SEC in baseball if you can't win in Columbia.

last series played between Carolina & LSU was 2013 in Baton Rouge. Freshman Jack Wynkoop pitched a Sunday gem in a series clinching shutout 4-0 over the Tigers. USC dropped the Friday game before winning the final two.

Series Record: LSU 32 wins USC 24 wins & 1 tie.

Columbia LSU 15 wins USC 9 wins
Baton Rouge LSU 12 wins USC 11 wins 1 tie
New Orleans LSU 1 win USC 0 wins
Hoover LSU 4 wins USC 2 wins
Omaha LSU 0 wins USC 2 wins

definitely need a weighted average with the Omaha wins being worth more.

If we've learned one thing over the years, it's to forget asking a former coach's advice as to who his successor should be.

I dunno. it's been a great series overall with some interesting trends.

Tigers won 15 of the first 20 games which included 1 tie. these games were during their amazing 90s teams up through 2001.

Gamecocks then won 16 of the next 23, including the 02 Hoover battle royal of 3 crazy games. this run also included 6 straight wins for USC in Baton Rouge over 2 seasons.

LSU's won 10 of the last 15, even though USC took 2 of 3 in BR last time they got together.

I don't know if this season's Carolina can put 2 good SEC series together back-to-back or not. just hoping to see a Gamecock ball club show up at Carolina Stadium on Thursday with the same mindset they took to College Station.

LSU is loaded for bear this season.

we're all too busy making sure Holbrook feels the flames under his seat.

Gamecocks have always had an appreciation for LSU baseball. hope USC can match the intensity and competitiveness the Tigers will bring to Cola in a few days

What can we say? "Well, other than horrible pitching and defense, the Aggies played pretty darn good." Yeah, that's it.

Gonna be 5 out of 8. LSU probably won't have to win the series, though.

I blame the scheduling.

2009: LSU wins national title, beats us 2/3 that year I believe.

2010: LSU is 40-20 (plenty respectable), but SC wins the national title and the SEC regular season. They don't play.

2011: LSU is 36-20, misses out on the tournament for the first time in a while, SC wins national title again.
They don't play.

It was our window to really get a few games back in the overall series.

I'm planning on being in Columbia for the Thursday and Friday games .... how those go will determine if I stay for Sunday.

I'm thinking this series has real potential if SCAR can get the Thursday night win.

With regard to A&M ... they've got the offense. Their stadium seems conducive to bash ball ... there has to have been twenty homers hit this weekend. I'm not sure how well A&M is going to fair in the post season when they have to play small ball. A&M will have to cut down on their errors to have hopes of advancing very far.

They can sure hit the ball though.

The series with LSU this weekend is going to tell us if this year's Gamecock team can make the cut - we'll see, it's gonna be close.

I believe their dimensions are 375, 400, 375, however, it has been extremely windy here over the last week or so and it was blowing straight out yesterday which must have led to half the HRs going out where they normally wouldn't (for both teams I mean)
