Softball just had one of its best years ever under a new coach, golf qualified for the NCAA finals, swimming is a consistent top 10 program, women's basketball is improving (but not there yet), we've gone out and made an excellent men's basketball hire.

The athletic department as a whole is in much better shape than it was just a couple years ago, with football being the main cog. It stands to improve across most sports in the near future... Time will tell.

Football is life.....the rest is just details.

On a percentage basis.....how much of an athletic department's reputation hinges on performance in football?

At least Auburn realizes our athletic department hasn't been very good in recent years. That is why you have so many coaches in their first or second year and why so many people wanted to fire Jay Jacobs

A lot of Alabama fans have convinced themselves that their athletic department is awesome because of recent success in sports like golf and women's softball. Forget that men's basketball has been mediocre or worse every since Wimp Sanderson left and baseball has been mediocre or worse for most of the 21st century

Is this the thread we are supposed to pretend that we care about sports we don't actually care about?

Why do you hate the other Alabama sports programs so much?

understand what you're getting at with this thread but the LOL here is that this is coming from a poster representing a school that literally wouldn't give two shits if Bama never won another game in any sport as long as their football team is competitive.

Congrats it took a lot of technique & presentation to reel those cow tards in but, six 'chugs (post's) of the top water bait and they all took the hook.

People haven't forgotten how basketball has been lacking in recent years, but it isn't like we are just content with it. We went out and paid good money for a coach who most fans and most analysts thought was going to be a home run hire. It hasn't quite worked out that way but after next year, if things aren't showing signs of improvement we will probably be looking for another coach.

All the Gumps are currently gymnastic and softball fans, but none of them can name a single person on either team.

This reminds me of everybody getting their last licks in on Tennessee football cause they know in a few years that program will be so dead no one will care to pick on them, like a Minnesota.

Alabama and Auburns fanbases are fricking identical. This thread is awesome.

ETA: Also props to the the LSU fans who couldn't help but post in an AU UA pissing match. We love you too.

To be fair, we tacked on the Women's Doubles National Championship yesterday.

Baseball has been respectable and men's basketball has been a borderline NCAA tourney team.

I agree baseball's not been "great" either, but respectable is a good word.

Let's leave basketball out of it after last season's fiasco.
