Maybe I'm just remembering wrong but it seems like even 10 years ago if you were a qb you didnt just transfer because you weren't starting by sophomore year. I remember many players who only played 1 or 2 years even though they were really good because they had to wait their turn behind somebody else. What happened to turn every quarterback into a bunch of little bitches?

You don’t play football for fun or winning.

You play to make money, full stop.

You're just pissed because none of them want to transfer to Arkansas.

I mean, how many actually have?

He’s a top recruit behind a true Sophmore, and he doesn’t know if that guy will be a 4 year guy or not.

Really, it depends on who is ahead of them, and what year. If you're behind a freshman or sophomore and it looks like he's the QB of the future, I can hardly blame you for wanting to go somewhere you think will get you more than a single year to prove your NFL potential. I get it's frustrating for the fans, but this is literally their future potentially hanging in the balance. They're making the choices they think are best for them. They may be wrong, but that's their problem, not ours. If you spend your freshman year at one college and decide that your future would be better at another one, nobody will post on message boards about you being stupid or a quitter, after all.

People at other positions have transferred as long as I can remember. It makes more sense for QBs to transfer over any other position really, pretty much every other position on the field has more than 1 player playing or at least subs in backups even when the game is on the line except for QBs

No, I think the old way of sitting behind someone for 3 years was dumb, actually. There's a reason trends change, and it's usually good.

There are so many good football schools out there that could use a qb right away.

I just don't understand why Fields would have chosen Georgia with Fromm already there.

I never understood why a guy like Cardale Jones just wanted to sit the bench his whole career. He got damn lucky everyone got hurt that year or you would never know who he was

He could have gone to a school like Wisconsin or Michigan State and taken them pretty damn far and started 3 or 4 years

Worked well for Troy Aikman, the original prima donna QB.

I think it's just more noticeable now because guys are willing to transfer for playing time, not necessarily go to to a better team or different offensive system. And of course there's a lot more coverage of teen angst in the sports media these days.

I dunno. I've seen a few transfers work out pretty damn well for some kids.

Troy wasn't a prima donna.

Why?
It's just a business decision. I lose a promotion offer to a coworker, why I shouldn't I consider moving on to another opportunity?
You can't get better riding the bench.

There was an article earlier this year that said the number of 4 and 5 star QB transfers since 2010 has been over 50%, so to answer your question, a lot of them. LSU has had a metric shitton of QBs transfer and only two have started again, Justin McMillan for Tulane a few games this year and Anthony Jennings at ULL. None of them have amounted to anything. For every Will Grier or Kyler Murray, there are probably 10 QBs that were never heard from again.
