The top kicker in college football is on the market. Miami (Ohio) kicker Graham Nicholson, who won the 2023 Lou Groza Award, has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.

Nicholson was the starting kicker for the RedHawks in each of his three seasons with the program.

In 2023, he played in all 14 games, connecting on 27 of his 28 field goal attempts. In addition to winning the Lou Groza Award, Graham Nicholson was also named a first-team All-American by several outlets, including the Associated Press.

At one point last season, Nicholson connected on 25 straight field goals, setting a record for consecutive attempts made during one season. Now he is off to a new home and is sure to have plenty of interest.

It doesn’t in the article posted, but is being reported by multiple On3 affiliates.

When we pay we win.

When aTm pays they fire their coach and pay one of the largest buy outs in the history of sports.

Alabama fans have resorted to possibly signing a kicker out of the transfer portal.

I’m glad we left that game. I don’t want to pay a bunch of bitchy mercenaries to play at A&M.

Won the SEC last season and went to the playoffs.

Not sure what this means. Our coach has been on the job for 3 months and has the 6th ranked recruiting class in the country for 2025, to go along with some key wins in the portal.

Should we be upset or concerned?

Nitro, you didn’t belong in the playoffs and everyone knows it. Play on the field proved it as well

Beating Georgia, winning the SEC, and losing to the national champion on the last play of the game didn't prove it? Hmm....

Alabama is replacing a Groza finalist with a Groza winner. You expect us to be disappointed?

Yes. Alabama has a big need at kicker after losing Will Reichard. He was pretty good. Not only is he Alabama’s all time points leader, he is the all time points leader in college football.

Reichard Stands Alone as College Football Points Leader

Kickers are important. They are year in and year out one of the top point scorers on most teams. Not having a quality kicker will cost a team a lot of points, and often times a game or two. I remember Florida State beating LSU on a blocked extra point.
