Alabama has now lost 2 safeties/cornerbacks from their 2 deep to transfer (Maurice Smith being the other).

AL.com - Burgess Becker to UCF

AL.com - Georgia, Maryland, Miami, USC pursuing ex-Bama DB Maurice Smith

The post-spring secondary depth chart looked like this :

STAR : Maurice Smith, Tony Brown
CB : Marlon Humphrey, Anthony Averett
CB : Minkah Fitzpatrick, Kendell Shefield
SS : Eddie Jackson, Shawn Burgess-Becker
FS : Ronnie Harrison, Hootie Jones

- Maurice Smith is transferring
- Shawn Burgess-Becker is transferring
- Tony Brown's status is up in the air
- Hootie Jones' status is up in the air

Not devastating news, but not the best news for the fall. Young guys like Deionte Thompson, Shy Carter and Jared Mayden may have opportunities to find a spot in a rotation.

Like you said, that has to make the younger guys happy. Tony Brown should be hopeful of his role in the defense next season if he can get his head on straight

I seriously have never heard of burgess-Becker. I'm sure he played some but don't recall the name from the pa announcer. Must have been making a bathroom run.

The Bama DBs have a pair of championship rings that say they are better.

Burgess-Becker processed after Louisiana DA came through and saved Hootie.

Seriously, though losing Smith and Burgess-Becker hurts depth. They may not have played a ton if every one stayed healthy, but now a couple of injuries could put some serious pressure on the secondary depth chart.
