Zero chance.

A 3/4 Bryant Denny is 10x more profitable for UA/Ttown than playing in a full stadium in Birmingham

Weak attempt

It would at least generate some excitement for these boring arse games.

Saban wouldn't have to worry about an empty student section since the game won't be in Tuscaloosa. That accounts for at least 20,000 seats right there.

That 50,000 seat stadium would be filled with the most diehard Alabama fans for an otherwise uneventful game.

There's also that nostalgic feeling of playing in Birmingham for the older Bama fans. Stop and get you some Milo's on the way home.

Plus the SEC headquarters is right across the street. They can save money on their Brink's truck.

I support moving the Iron Bowl to Bham every year because it would piss off the Aubies. I don't really want to play anybody else there.

Only nostalgia for me in BHam is Legion Fields obstructive view posts. Saw the 85 tiffin kick in that stadium. City doesn’t mean anything.

That place was home.

Maybe college football teams should support the cities that house them instead of generating money for big cities.

Oh, so the people of Mountain Brook don't support Bama football now, huh?

Protective Stadium lacks the infrastructure to handle even a poorly-attended USFL game. They built the stadium with zero parking and on top of the overflow parking for the BJCC. Traffic and parking for UAB games are a nightmare. A sold out Bama game would be gridlock.
Better off just playing at Legion Field, which at least can still handle a crowd.

I would love for Bama and/or Auburn to play a game there over the next couple of years.

I’d honestly like to see Alabama play a game in Birmingham again but it’s not going to happen. Too much financial impact for the University and city of Tuscaloosa on a football weekend.

The stadium would collapse in on itself because of how poorly it has been maintained over the last 20 years. They had to remove an entire upper deck some years back because it was in danger of collapsing.

That stadium has zero chance of ever hosting a Bama game. The infrastructure isn't there and even when Bama doesn't put an arse in a seat there are still 90K there. Not just seating capacity but the amount of traffic would jam I-65, I59 and I20 for 8 hours and Protective and the surrounding area isn't set up for a Bama game.

As for Birmingham, I have said for years Bama didn't treat that place fairly (nor did we treat Mobile right either). Bama was scheduled to have one game there thru 2008 I want to say but a clause in the contract stated that if it was deemed inadequate the contract was null. Bama had the inspection done and the upper deck was deemed unsafe and removed so the USF game in 03 was the last one. Problem was, we never said goodbye to a dear friend that hosted many huge games over a century. Bama needs to play at Legion once more and say goodbye appropriately and college football fans over the country could see it once more. I'm surprised it hasn't happened and the Bama brass just said frick off. In that respect I think Bama is wrong. If it does happen it would be impossible at Protective though.

You're so full of shite. I had an easier time leaving the Garth Brooks concert and the Auburn bowl game at Protective Stadium than I did leaving a bowl game at Legion Field.

It's just never going to happen unfortunately due to the money. The only time we'll play there is if we sink to auburn levels and take their annual bowl spot.

Definition of a moron. Or a traitor.
Went to theB’ham Bowl. Traffic backed up for blocks. No cel coverage. Talked to people who paid for reserved parking only to find garages blocked off and “full.” No cops anywhere directing traffic on the way out.
I actually like Birmingham—I wouldn’t live here if I didn’t. I just wish they would stop doing stupid shite. Like building brand new stadiums with no parking. Or going to LSU but cheering for Alabama!

How have I been able to find parking at the 3 events I've been to then?

I don’t know—you tell me! Did you park on the street? Pay $25 to park at Top Golf or one of the local churches? Wander back into one of the shady neighborhoods surrounding the stadium? At the five events I’ve been to (two UAB games, B’ham Bowl, USFL game, and a Legion game) I’ve done all three. Not once have I parked in the lot or garage I planned to when I left—it’s always been full or “reserved” or simply inaccessible. And I’ve stopped going to events there as a result.

You know why every other modern stadium is surrounded by a giant parking lot? Because you want more people at the games than those who live within walking distance, especially in a city with zero public transit, like Birmingham. If you make it too hard for that Mountain Brook money to get to the events, then they will just stay home, and everyone suffers. I get that the city is still pissed at the OTM communities for pulling the economic rug out from under the city and refusing to join in any kind of unified city-county government. But unnecessarily antagonizing them by refusing to make them welcome at either Regions Field or Protective Stadium is just counter-productive. Build a parking lot or light rail up 280 and along US-31 and Highway 11. Or continue to suffer from embarrassing attendance like the UAB, USFL and Legion games. And have your shiny new stadium turn into a money-draining white elephant.

I paid $5 and parked in a parking garage and walked about 2 blocks.

Just because something happened in the past doesn't mean you are nostalgic for it. People used to die of polio but nobody wants to reservist it.
