Alabama OL... questions

Going into season this was bigger worry than QB (Alabama has 5 QBs all of whom were higher ranked when recruited than the best QB on many SEC teams) ... and the Whiskey game did not leave me warm and fuzzy. Left side was supposed to be the strong side, but Cam was somewhat beaten inside and out by small white boy and the left side our OL looked just plain confused at times.
I could not decide if we were zone blocking, gap blocking or man blocking, or using different schemes for different plays. Bottom line, OL just looked disorganized ... again (had somewhat same issue last year) ..., multiple holding calls, off sides, etc. Gave up three sacks to an "un-athletic" front seven.
I've seen our OL go down hill since Stoutland left and they hired Cristoval. Mario can recruit but I've had serious questions about his ability to coach ... besides, he was a U. of Miami 5-year jerk-starter in his college days, and he was owned by Alabama in the NC game Sugar Bowl, 1993.
This start for the OL does not have me confident for the rest of the season. THAT SAID.. several OLs of other teams looked similarly disorganized. Perhaps the OL schemes in general have just gotten too cute and complex for consistency.

O-Lines typically get better, more cohesive as the season progresses

We manhandled them in the run game. Cam was a bit rusty, but after a couple of drives he was solid.
The sky isn't falling; the OL was good and even great in run blocking.
Holding calls - most of the players are first year starters or underclassmen. It's to be expected in the first game of the season.

I thought the OL looked great, especially Kelly, and especially in the 2nd half.

I thought Alabama's offensive line looked pretty damn good on Saturday.
Controlled the LOS and got a good push on the snap.

They averaged 6.5 ypc and had 274 total yards rushing...in the first game of the season...and you're complaining? I agree that they looked sloppy at times, but damn, man.

Alabama is perfect in every facet of the game. They are almost as good as A&M.

Wisconsin Dline is not very good, LSU dominated them last year once their two starters had to leave the game. Oline play is the biggest improvement you see from week 1 to week 2, to start playing like a cohesive unit takes a little time. The LSUoline last year started out real bad but by midseason could line up with anyone.

What game did you watch? We ran on a team that prides itself on stopping the run and openly said that was their plan coming into the game at will. Those TD's, you could have drove a truck through there. The holding, yea but I have 0 concerns about the O line considering how many new starters we have. Only gonna get better and it was pretty dang good anyway. We werent playing UT-Martin.

bama's OL will be fine
y'all had the same problem at the beginning of last year. Do you not recall the WV game? your OL was atrocious

Doesnt mean jack crap. Recruiting rankings are an educated guess at best.

Maybe it was just the first game of the season...in which they helped put up 500 yards of offense against a ranked team

Run blocking generally OK, but no, those holes were not truck sized, they were quite slim...Kelly did well at center. But the pass protection was pretty bad or at least very inconsistent.
I waited until I could review the game again before I posted this. I suggest watching it again and grading the line play. Hope things will improve especially protection.

1. I didn't know Henry was still there. I thought he graduated.
2. I forgot he's really good.
3. OL will play better as the season progresses.
4. I think Coker played well considering the circumstances.

They looked sloppy at times, which is to be exepected in the early games. But they got better and improved in the second half. And 6.5 ypc & 275 total rushing yards makes me smile all day.

I re-watched the game yesterday morning. They looked bad at times, but overall they did a good job. I'd grade them overall about a B-. Kelly was an A+. Cam probably a C.

an "un-athletic" front seven.
They showed a video of their 6'2" outside linebacker dunking a basketball after putting it between his legs in the air

The holding, yea but I have 0 concerns about the O line..
