2008: 12-2
2009: 14-0

2011: 12-1
2012: 13-1
2013: 11-2
2014: 12-2
2015: 9-1

This is one record that Coach Saban has beaten Coach Bryant.

Though Coach Bryant had 13 ten-win seasons, he only had 5 consecutive 1971-75.

Yes but like I said early, it comes with a major cavet.

10 win seasons were a much bigger accomplishment in the past.

Prior to the early 70's teams played a 10 game regular season, so you had 11 games to win 10 (if you made it to a bowl)

Then in the early 70's they went to an 11 game regular season, meaning you had 12 games to get 10.

Then of course in 1992 with the advent of the SEC Championship game, you potentially had 13 games to get 10 wins.

Then in the early 2000's they went to a 12 game regular season, meaning you could have as many as 14 games to get 10.

And then with the CFP, you could potentially have 15 games to do it (realistically if you're in the CFP you already have 10 wins, so it's really not gonna help you get 10).

Long story short, 10 win seaons are not nearly as huge an accomplishment as they once were, however they still are a pretty good benchmark for having a "great" season.

Not to mention schools like Ole Miss, Baylor, Auburn, Mississippi State, I could go on, have a lot of the FCS schools locked up with their own schedules early in the season.

Not really in this day in age, 11 win seasons should probably be the standard. In the day you played 11 games including a bowl. Now you play 12 reg, a conf title, at least one if not 2 bowl games. so 13-15 games.

either way its basketball season now

I will promise you, little to no Bama fan has "never appreciated" it.
Most Bama fans will even cheer on the McElwains, the Smarts, and maybe even the Kiffins that will move on.
There will be no bad mouthing of coaches (not named Franchione) that leave Tuscaloosa for greener pastures like you hear prominently from another school in our division.

Saban does generally get an extra game or two a year.

Really? so 10+ win in a season isn't the standard any longer? If it is so easy, why isn't anyone else stringing this type of run (or anything approaching it) together?

Heck, AU, a firm big 6 member, hasn't had back-to-back 10 win seasons since 1988 & 1989. It isn't easy to do, regardless of number of games in a season. What Bama is doing is really impressive.
