WTF? He was the #3 JUCO player in the nation and was expected to get significant PT and possible starting time. I highly doubt he just gave up football.

'd much rather see a JuCo provide depth, and get his feet wet for next year, than have to count on freshmen out the gate.

But I bet he would much rather be on the field for two years at a school closer to Miami.

I'm sure he'll resurface somewhere, he too talented not to. However, he left for "personal and family reasons".

It's easy to say "it's no big loss", but Dixon would have provided much needed depth at corner.

I agree. This does hurt our depth at the position. Hopefully Belue and Milliner can get through the season without sustaining injuries.

He left because he expected to start and he realized he wasnt going to see the field this year.

He was our 4th CB at best possibly 5th. He would've provided depth, but we're ok with Milliner, Belue, Fulton, Sylve, Washington, and Geno. If he had stuck around AND things started clicking for him AND Milliner leaves after this season, then he might've been a contributor next season.

Alternate theory: he was encouraged to transfer to make room for the Honey Badger to transfer in

That was a big part of it I'm sure. All the reports out of camp made it sound like Fulton and Belue were battling for the 2nd starting corner spot, so his chances of starting next year would have been dependent on Milliner going pro early.

He was the top JuCo corner in the country. I'm sure that played a role in that outlook. He is also intent on providing a living for his family. I doubt sitting to learn for a year was in his plans. We'll see how it turns out for him.

doubt anyone who has options goes to the cane with their future problems. He will probably go somewhere that will make him eligible immediately

Second Bama player out of the class, joins a non-qualifier.
Losing a 4 star is losing a 4 star. Auburn has lost one in Pike and very likely to lose Robinson.

What players have other schools already loss from last years class.

Two is nothing if you've been following recruiting for awhile. We lost at least 4 from the '08 class (2 to MLB, 2 DNQ) and it hasn't seem to hurt us.

I know LSU had 3 that failed to qualify. I know UGA had 1 or 2. Was JaQuay Williams ever cleared?

He is expected to, expected by the 16 or 17th.

I agree that two is probable about average from signing day to today.

Not really the same. Those four never made it to campus. I've never considered guys that never step a foot on campus a loss. Not really that uncommon either, especially in the SEC.

A player leaving before his first game is very rare. Almost as rare as Grant leaving after only one RS year. These situations are certainly not the norm in CFB in the past, but it could indicate that this may be a future trend among the athletes.
