I remember when Southern Miss used to be a pretty good game. What in the hell happened to them?

2011 Larry Fedora 12-2 (conference champs)

2012 Ellis Johnson 0-12

Same reason they wouldn't play us. The whole "Ole Miss is scared" bull shite is overplayed. We've told them we would play them but we're not traveling to a C-USA stadium. They stopped negotiations then.

There was no CUSA back when Ole Miss stopped playing USM. At that time Ole Miss had a rather small stadium as well. Basically it was a no win scenario for Ole Miss. Ole Miss was starting to lose the games against USM and it was a game they were "supposed" to win. If they beat USM, no big deal, but if they keep losing to them, well then it is a big deal. I for one am glad they quit playing.

Probably already been said here but Bama gets a bye week before OM and LSU next season too. Shocker.

I think that south Alabama has had an impact on their recruiting. Gives kids in that area a better place to play.

Southern Miss plays on campus. USA plays in a downtown stadium.

Horse shite. You got a link to that? Ole Miss was scared to play them because they saw what happened when State played them. No money in it for either State or Ole Miss but USM, win or lose, made a killing. Ole miss has never used the "we refuse to play in a little stadium" argument.

And LSU has their traditional Bye week before Alabama.

Do people get how byes work?

SEC completes it's schedule. This leaves open dates. Then the school chooses which one to fill and which one to leave open for byes.

I wish we could have made the bye before TAMU and LSU, but I guess Ole Miss isn't a bad choice. Though MSU wouldn't have been bad either. They seem to play us tougher.

USM should go independent again and play 8 to 9 road games a year just to get the money.

If USM did this, Louisiana Tech fans would seriously have a stroke
