Im just trying to be realistic. They are a very good football team and they match up well against Alabama.

How is that a better comparison, we beat the shite out of Notre Dame.

1. Notre Dame was very workman like, relying on their defense to win ball games (much like Alabama in 1992)

2. Notre Dame was a heavy underdog going into the championship game (+9), which is very comparable to the +10.5 Alabama was at going into the game against Miami in New Orleans.

3. You were asking for similar feels pre-game. This match-up between Alabama and Clemson feels nothing like the pre-game vibe prior to the '93 Sugar Bowl. Alabama was given absolutely no chance (much like Notre Dame), while many people are saying Clemson has the horses to beat us (which they do).

The only way I saw ND even staying with us was by us playing down to their level. If we have an off-game against Clemson on Monday night we most likely lose. That's the difference.

I think the Clemson game will be about like...

…the Notre Dame game. I just can't see it. I ave looked at their opponents and the people that have hung a tone of points on them and I just don;t see them playing with Alabama for 4 questers.

Nice find. Hopefully, he'll find his nuts again before Monday.

Clemson is good. But Bama isn't ran like the old U teams. Discipline and focus are the cornerstones of Saban's process. While I think Clemson is capable of beating us, they aren't going whip our asses like we did Miami. Only Steven Garcia has beaten us by more than a touchdown since we started rolling. And this isn't arrogant like the '10 team.

we are the Miami. I remember everyone saying we didm;t have a chance. All of the media people picked Miami and laughed at Alabama and then we beat the shite out of them. This is going to be a hard fought ballgame. I think Clemson will try to go ahead fast much like A&M did that year with Johnny football and we couldn't climb out of the hole we found ourselves in. This game will be interesting.

This Clemson team is significantly better than that ND team on both sides of the football. Terrible comparison you just referenced IMO.

OMG.

The OP was comparing the pre-game hoopla with the Alabama/Miami game from 1993 to the pre-game hoopla regarding the game we have before us. I am disagreeing and saying that Alabama/Notre Dame is a much better comparison to the OP's point. Why? Because in both instances neither underdog team was given a chance.

Clemson is being given a chance by both the media and by the fans. It's not going to be an easy game.

Here's a few more things to consider if you think Clemson is 92 Alabama:

1. Clemson is ranked #1, not #2.
2. EVERYBODY thought Miami would win that game. Many people are picking Clemson.
3. Alabama shocked Miami with a defensive front they had never seen. Which of these two teams does that sound like?
4. Miami was coming off a national championship the previous year. Alabama is coming off a stinging loss in the playoffs.
5. Miami players thought that Alabama would be easy to stop because they were "one dimensional". Sound familiar?

Miami was hyping themselves, and saying they were the best ever. Our players don't say anything and just go to work.

In all these cases, it's been the tougher defense that reigned supreme. This is why I feel Bama wins, like they always say, "Defense wins championships".

And you're terrible in comparison once again. Notre Dame was picked several times by the media to beat Alabama based on their stellar D that year. You act as if no one even gave ND a shot that year. Either you have short term memory loss or you are just stupid if you can't remember alot of folks picking ND to beat Bama.

I hear ya Scoop. There have been so many stat threads comparing every little number between teams. On paper we should definitely win. On paper. They don't play the game on paper, though.

I am confident in our team, but Watson is a very special player, and they have some really talented guys on both sides of the ball. All of the number crunching won't mean much on Monday.

It will be a battle.
