So we're in agreement that bama, lsu, and the rest of the country oversign every year, and probably use the exact same methods to crunch the numbers?

Well it's just an above average number for yal to be crunching this year. I don't think Saban has done anything "shady" yet but most are assuming something has got to give.

I'll be honest, I'm in agreement here. I'm not one to blindly say, "In Saban I trust." It just looks strange. I hope I'm wrong and he doesn't have to go back on his word to other players currently on the team. It will be very interesting to see how this all works out.

Why are you (opposing fans) worried about how many we sign anyways? shouldn't that be something us bama fans are worried about? Personally I believe that's why we pay him the big bucks, to make decisions like this.

That's easy. They will stop at nothing to try make Alabama look bad. My point is that this situation could actually could blow up in our face a little if not handled correctly.

Come on man, don't be delusional. We are 6 months away from our 1st college football game and signing day is tomorrow - what the hell you think we are going to talk about?

I'm guessing the intent is to show that Saban is classless because he will push out players who are currently on the team.
You don't care about the future of players Saban deems not good enough. I don't care either. I guess it just depends on the reader.

LSU has experienced a higher level of attrition the last few years. That is what allowed us to sign a full class this year. This class should have been a small one but transfers, academic casualties, NFL draft, and disciplinary issues have allowed Miles and staff to sign a full 25.

LSU is due for a small class like 2005. 12-15 prospects.

I understand this. It's just the same old shite but on a different day about CNS. Some people need to let it go

Yea, pretty sure next year will be a smaller one for us.

I really wish someone could find that rivals page that shows how many scholarship players are on each team and what year they are.

I'll agree with that, but this is an actual story.

I look at it from a different perspective. Not only are we paying (yes...paying) these guys maybe $80,000-$100,000 over 4-5 years in the form of a free ride, but unless the guy is a complete and utter moron, he can parley that degree and 4 year FB career into huge bucks in a business career in the state of Alabama. See Van Tiffin, Andrew Zow, Jay Barker, etc.

I believe that these guys need to continue to produce at a high level in order to keep their scholarships. Some may transfer on their own, as Terry Grant has been rumored to be thinking about, and that's OK too.

Last year you also had 5 (?) kids who went on to play baseball. In this class I don't believe you have any do you?

Here is why this is an issue and this is why Saban does it: it is both builds his team and keeps good players away from other teams. So, the 4* who isn't starting by his junior year suddenly finds out that attrition is at work and better move on. Instead of graduating from Alabama, he ends up at some FCS school. He could have started at Miss. St., but he was one of 30 signed by Saban.

It is one thing to do it one year. You expect attrition and sometimes you have to catch up. When you do it every year, it is a problem.

This will eventually catch up with you. Either players will realize that half the guys who sign with Alabama never make it and they will go to a school that will stick with them, or you will have a year where you sign 13 like we did in 2005. It's like being on probation and it hurt us this year. But, Saban will likely take off before it affects him.

The bad thing is, Saban is stabbing the players in the back who have bought into his process and have sweat and bled for him by bringing in this many guys. The only solution is for around 15 Bama players who are expecting to play or have a scholarship next year to mysteriously disappear to make room for the new guys.

Integrity at its finest.

And, we'll talk about Saban all we want and you'll like it! It's why you come anyway! LOL

You need to clarify that post with a "I have no clue what saban does, this is just my dumbass theory". Or you could just state that whatever saban did at lsu is what he's now doing at bama. Furthermore, I had no problem with it then, and therefore I have no right to bitch about it now.

New year, same story. LSU fans crying because Saban knows what he is doing...

We oversigned last year and still managed to come in under the limit after MLB, JUCO's, greyshirts, etc.

I agree many on here need to let it go, but there also has to be a line between being let go and regular attacking. Bama won the west last season, so by default all attacks will be pointed to the program who won the division. LSU and Auburn will lead the charge due to down years. Ole Miss is still just excited to be named in the list, and Miss State and Ark fans do not even feel like jacking with it. That being said, the "Bama cheats" and "saban is an a-hole to the human population" remarks are going to continue until Bama falls back again and Saban either leaves or is fired. So, all in all, some of the Bama fanbase who so proudly talk of the Bama winning tradition, sure do not know how to handle the normal armchair SEC bullshite that is coming thier way. Not saying anyone in particular, but some of Bama fanbase is starting to sound like some of the LSU fanbase relative to whining and all out bitching about other fanbases taking shots.

I just wrote all this to have the opportunity to inject a "relative to" in my post.

I believe what AlaTiger was saying was that in 2005 when Saban left LSU, he left us 'high and dry' with very little recruiting room. All Miles had was the 13 scholarships and a short recruiting season. It is going to be interesting to see an Alabama implosion IF Saban stays there long enough for him to have a scholarship crunch. I think it will happen, but that is my opinion.

I went to college on an AFROTC scholarship. If I didn't make the grades, I owed the Gov for everything they'd spent on me, or I could have enlisted.

OTOH, I think it's touching about the great outpouring of sympathy of LSU fans for current Bama football players on scholarship who might be in jeopardy of loosing their ride if they don't make the team.
