Thanksgiving is universally about family, food, and football... For us it's always been more than just NFL football games, which aren't really personal or nostalgic, it's been one of our games. It used to be, and probably someday will be again, against our biggest rival.

Its about making you their new Texas. They've bent over and presented for LSU in everything since joining the SEC.
Pretty strong start so far.
Gimps gonna gimp.

i just want the truth
the whole thing just seems contrived and desperate to me
it was a ut/tamu tradition and had nothing to do with lsu, you're just another team on the schedule to us
nobody cares to watch the game on thanksgiving night other than the parties involved

And I gave it to you, it's become traditional for A&M to play on Thanksgiving, and you know Aggies live for tradition. We gather with our families and have a great meal and watch A&M play or we go to Kyle and have a great Turkey tailgate and watch A&M play. Think of it kinda like the way y'all think of night games at DV the feelings surrounding both are very similar.

a. You've been given the truth.
b. That's your opinion--you're certainly welcome to it.
c. Yes it was indeed an Aggie/Longhorn tradition. I don't think Aggies have ever said the match-up is more than "just another team on the schedule" to LSU fans.
d. Then don't watch it.

Our president made a three year agreement with Slive and LSU's president that in exchange for their yes vote to let us in the SEC we would let them win in football. Everyone knows this.
The three year agreement is over now so Tigahs beware.

2 conflicting explanations presented in this thread
both consistent with what was listed in the op
so that's the official tamu position, only interested in maintaining the bizarre custom and completely unconcerned with making the lsu game a thing?

I can't give you the official TAMU position; I can only give you mine.
I suggest you contact the university and/or the athletic department, if you're looking for something formal.

Thanksgiving. We are thankful that we get to tell our baby brother LSU what to do. #blessed

The Texas A&M vs. LSU border-state rivalry football game will be played on Thanksgiving Day in 2014 as part of the traditional “rivalry weekend,” the Southeastern Conference announced on Wednesday.
quote:
“Texas A&M and LSU has always been one of nation’s best rivalries,” Texas A&M Director of Athletics Eric Hyman said. “It has all the trappings of a great rivalry – passionate fan bases, bordering states, close proximity, unmatched traditions and history. College football’s rivalry weekend is the perfect home for the Aggies and Tigers.”

Texas A&M will resume its tradition of playing football on Thanksgiving on Nov. 27, 2014, replacing long-time Turkey Day rival Texas with SEC West opponent LSU. The positioning is meant to stoke and elevate the rivalry between the Aggies and Tigers, who have a memorable history of 51 games, though only two of them have been played since 1995.

This is the weird troll, where the subject matter/delivery isn't there, but you end up getting frustrated by the sheer magnitude of unwavering persistence of the pest.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about reconciling it.
It appears that the university chooses to market the game as an old rivalry/inter-division match-up.
They're not forcing you to adopt a similar viewpoint.
Breathe easy.
