@Aggie_Sports: Interesting note: W/ Freeze's pay bump to $2 million, Kevin Sumlin is tied w/ Mark Stoops, Freeze for lowest SEC salary.

We have been burned the last few times giving raises/extensions. In this case though, I would back paying the man more.

He will be paid. Not worried... No way our administration can frick this up. If we let Summy go it'd be like 2002 all over again (firing the legendary RC Cola).

He's at $2.4 now---same as Muschamp.

But yes, we need to pay him. Yesterday. I'm confident he'll be at $3.5M by next season.

Im assuming his contract bump will be in tandem with the new coaching hires. If we get cheaper position coaches, Sumlin will get more. And vice versa. We need to know who all is leaving and who is coming on board first. I think anyway.

Do you have any idea how long it takes to get a contract amended at A&M? First, the AD and the agent have to work out the terms, then the general counsel will do a first draft, which will then be reviewed by the coach's attorney, and they will go back and forth a couple of times before a final version is ready to be submitted to the Board of Regents.

A&M could hold a press conference as soon as terms were agreed (as LSU did), but there's no need to do that, unless recruits are hearing rumors that he's going somewhere. Absent that, it's best for all this to be handled behind closed doors.

Almost as tedious as the TD Admin initiation process.

My guess is that we are waiting to see what other offers he gets (USC maybe?) so we can match that and not do two increases in an offseason.

That's an improvement on our old AD, who would just go ahead and announce an extension before he had approval.

He'll get his raise after he gives us a crystal football next year. Even if he doesn't, 10 wins gets him a giant raise next year.
