towels? I've never really noticed them in Dallas when we play but I saw some video and there were people waving towels and throwing them everywhere.

You guys do this every game? Is it supposed to create some sort of home field advantage waving a towel around?

Then you guys throw them away after the game?

I'm glad LSU doesn't have any shite like that. Like pom poms, cowbells, and other noise instruments.

How exactly is a pom pom a "noise instrument"?

I should of worded it like "Pom poms and cowbells (and other noise instruments). Wasnt really calling the pom poms noise instruments, but instead the cowbells.

And those are some old arse pictures . What I meant is LSU isn't known for it's pom poms like Alabama or Tennessee. I'm sure some fans will have pom poms but no where near as many as other SEC schools. Coonass vocal range is the main noise maker.

Don't half the SEC schools wave something around during the game? (pom poms, cowbells, etc.)

Yeah so this thread is silly.

Someone from LSU must of stole this dude's girlfriend. I don't think he says anything semi-positive about LSU.

Our towels have ball bearings in them and rattle when shaken.

As an Arkansas fan you're probably unaware of the world outside of your village/hollar, which would include the NFL, but I believe Jackie Sherrill brought the towel tradition with him when he came from Pittsburgh, having been inspired by Steeler* fans.

*The Steelers are a team in the National Football League, which is what high school dropouts in non-Southern states follow instead of the local kollige.

all of those pictures are from games where pom poms were handed out at the game by marketing people

first pic is the gold game from a few years ago and they handed out gold pom poms to everyone entering TS (havent done it in a while)

second pic is when marketing handed it out to the student section at an away game (they still do this on occasion)

the last pics are all from either the BCS Championship game or the SEC Championship game, at both they provide a pom pom on every seat to every fan

the large majority of LSU fans dont carry a pom pom around tailgating all day and keep a pom pom at their house to bring to games

every single pic you posted were games marketing handed them out to fans at the game...does marketing hand out pom poms to all Alabama fans as they enter BDS or are those all brought in by fans from outside sources? that is the difference

The first pic was before 2004...that's the old west upper deck to the right. Also, when they hand out those shakers for a certain game, those things are all over campus after the game. Nobody keeps that shite.

Perfect example...LSU - Arkansas last year...

Why are LSU fans so defensive about the well-documented affinity for pom poms?

Why does a closet case get defensive when a coworker sees them at a gay bar? Same principle.

Jackie did bring them. The topic came up recently, and he said that when he pitched the idea to the yell leaders, they said "no sir, we don't want to do anything to change kyle field."

Jackie said he was so shocked by that that he didn't even fight it. However, he decided that he'd go another route and started having them made up and handed out to the fans anyway. I forget the two methods to make it happen, but he got his way in the end, and the 12th man towel was born (by way of the terrible towel many years ago).
